Town: Surrounded by Cheshire countryside, Tattenhall is a lovely, vibrant village with good amenities and a pretty 19th Century church steeped in history. It’s tower dates back 500 years and there are Roman remains, which suggest that the site has been used as a place of worship from as early as 1300AD! The village has a wonderful community spirit, with lots of local businesses and a busy social events calendar. A weekly country market takes place every Friday morning, where you can find local produce, cakes and crafts, as well as flowers and plants. There are two good pubs in the centre of the village, along with a SPAR supermarket and family butchers; there is also a book shop, a farm shop and cafe, and you can enjoy delicious ice cream at the nearby Cheshire Ice Cream Farm! A short drive away you can visit Beeston Castle, explore the stunning Cholmondeley Castle Gardens, or spend an afternoon at Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre, The Crocky Trail or Go Ape Delamere Forest! Delamere Forest is great for picnics and birdwatching, and there are several walking and cycle routes to be enjoyed too. The Historic City of Chester can be reached in less than half an hour. You can walk the perimeter of the city on the original Roman walls, discover the amphitheatre and visit the city’s wonderful cathedral. It is great for shopping and dining out, offering a good selection of restaurants and quirky cafes, as well as bars and pubs where you can sample the local nightlife. As well as exploring Cheshire and Chester, you can easily venture across the border into North Wales! With so much to see and do nearby, Tattenhall is a fantastic holiday destination for all group types, all year round.
