About this property
Cosy, rustic retreat in the Cairngorms National Park, surrounded by wild nature.
At the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, Ballintean Mountain Lodge nestles in a landscape of outstanding natural beauty. Vast ancient forests, hidden lochs and snow-capped mountains provide a breath-taking backdrop for an inspiring and uplifting holiday, retreat or workshop.
Set in a private, elevated position amongst open woodland, Mountain Lodge has a rustic, contemporary feel with furnishings inspired by the natural landscape around us, providing the perfect base from which to immerse yourself in the space and solitude of the Scottish Highlands.
The Lodge comfortably accommodates fourteen guests* in a mix of single, double and twin bedrooms, all with en-suite facilities. The light and airy two-tier lounge – ideal for group discussions and workshops – offers full AV facilities, whilst the dining room, full of rural charm, allows everyone to get together and enjoy a relaxing dining experience. We offer a partial/full catering service for those groups who wish to focus on their chosen activity.
From the Lodge, a 3-minute walk takes you to the rushing waters of the River Feshie – part of our 120-acre 'rewilding reserve' – with views to the hills beyond. For hikers and cyclists, there are a multitude of tracks and trails leading straight from the door, as well as an extensive network of pathways throughout the area.
For the nature lover, regular visitors to Ballintean include red squirrels, pine martens and badgers, while golden eagles and ospreys can often be seen overhead. For the more adventurous, local activities include wild swimming, clay pigeon shooting, quad bike safaris and Scotland's most exciting woodland zip line.
A short distance from Mountain Lodge, hidden in the woods, is our beautifully-appointed 3-bedroomed cottage, which can serve as an annex for larger groups. Ballintean Cottage comfortably accommodates six guests.
*Mountain Lodge has fourteen bed spaces, however, we would recommend limiting your group to twelve if it comprises adults only.

Our group of 14 friends loved our stay here. It is well equipped for large groups and very spacious - no lack of separate bathrooms etc. It is well situated close to walks and the nearby sauna. The host was friendly and welcoming. One small recommendation is for the owner to give a heads up when popping by. Thank you for accommodating a memorable stay for us! Would 100% recommend staying at this property.
We had an amazing stay at this beautiful property. We were a large group of 12 and the house was perfect for accommodating everyone comfortably. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and well-equipped, with plenty of communal areas for us to spend time together. The kitchen had everything we needed for group meals, and the surrounding scenery made the whole trip even more special.A special mention to our host, Amanda, who went above and beyond to make sure our stay was smooth and enjoyable. She was incredibly responsive, kind, and welcoming—answering all our questions promptly and offering great local recommendations. Her warm hospitality truly made the experience memorable for all of us.We would highly recommend this property for large groups or families looking for a comfortable and unforgettable stay in Scotland. Thank you again, Amanda, for being such a wonderful host—we’d love to return in the future!
