About this property

Middle Kellet - Silecroft, West Cumbria near the beach

Middle Kellet is set in a courtyard location in the middle of the seaside village of Silecroft. This characterful 18th century property is a lovely quiet retreat with its centuries old beams and exposed stonework emphasising how sturdily they made houses in the past. Great for three people, whether a small family or three adults, Middle Kellet is an excellent base from which to explore the dramatic and quieter south western part of the Lake District. You will have all sorts of things to do - sun and fun on the beach (check out the Silecroft Beach Cafe), climbing Black Combe (great views of the Duddon Estuary) or further up the coast to Ravenglass, Muncaster Castle, Scafell Pike, and Britain's best view at Wasdale. Those who stay in the middle of the Lakes are missing a brilliant place for a holiday with the bonus of no crowds! If you don't drive, you can reach Silecroft by train on the scenic coastal railway - the local station is a 3-minute walk away.

Inside Middle Kellet, there is a good kitchen/dining area set up with all you need to make meals and snacks. On this ground floor level is a shower room, which is in addition to the second bathroom upstairs. Step into the ultra cosy lounge with beams and exposed stonework. An excellent sofa and easy chair await as you relax in front of the telly with something refreshing...Upstairs to the two bedrooms - one of which has a double brass bedstead whilst the second bedroom contains a full-size (3ft) single bed in what is quite a good-sized room. If your exertions mean a bath would be welcome, there is a bathtub in the upstairs bathroom. Oil-fired central heating ensures year-round comfort.

To the rear, there is a lawned and fully enclosed garden with high pebble walls. In the garden, there is also a picnic table for you to enjoy some more fresh air in this very sheltered garden. Parking is no problem with a dedicated space just opposite the cottage in the courtyard.

If you have a larger party, we also have West Kellet (sleeps 5) on the same site, just across the courtyard.

Silecroft is a traditional, untouristy seaside village with a local pub just a few minutes walk away and, best of all, you can be walking on the sandy beach in 15 minutes, or starting your ascent of Black Combe, straight from the door.
