The Space:
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Eskdale, this beautiful countryside retreat offers a perfect blend of comfort, style, and unforgettable views.
Stepping inside, you’re welcomed from the stunning surrounding scenery into a beautifully presented and tastefully decorated home, designed with relaxation in mind.
The living room features calming neutral tones, plush and comfortable sofas, a flat-screen TV, and a cosy log-burning stove—ideal for unwinding after a day exploring the Lakes. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances you’ll need, complemented by a spacious dining table perfect for relaxed meals and social evenings.
Upstairs, the property offers two beautifully styled bedrooms, each thoughtfully decorated in soft, calming tones. There is one King size bed and one Super-King, both of which can be split into two single beds upon request prior to guests staying if requested. Both rooms also feature windows that frame the spectacular countryside views, ensuring you wake up to the beauty of the valley each morning. A cot-bed can be supplied at this property upon request.
The contemporary shower room is finished to a high standard, complete with full wall tiling for a sleek, modern feel.
Outside, the property continues to impress with a private seating area—perfect for morning coffee or evening drinks—overlooking Eskdale Fell. To the front, the cottage enjoys a unique outlook onto the charming Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, while stunning countryside views surround you in every direction.
A truly special escape in one of the Lake District’s most picturesque settings.
Guest Access:
Guests have access to the full apartment.
This property allows for one small, well-behaved dog.
The keys to Dalegarth Cottage are accessed via a secure key safe and full details will be provided shortly before your arrival date.
Parking for this property is in Bay 1 – please respect the neighbours and refrain from parking in any of Bays 2-9.
There maybe one additional place beyond Bay 7 (Visitor) but this will be on a first come first serve basis.
The Neighborhood:
Nestled in the heart of one of the Lake District’s most scenic valleys, your cottage sits in Boot, a charming rural village in Eskdale, Cumbria. Surrounded by dramatic fells and winding rivers, this area is ideal for guests seeking peace, nature, and authentic Lakeland life. Boot itself is a small settlement of traditional stone cottages and countryside pubs — perfect for a relaxed stroll before dinner. Just minutes away on foot you’ll find the 17th-century packhorse bridge, the historic Eskdale Mill with its working waterwheels, and the quaint Whillan Beck stream — all with views straight out of Lake District postcards.
Locals and visitors alike love Boot for its two classic pubs, picturesque walking trails, and proximity to natural gems like Stanley Ghyll Force waterfall and the River Esk banks. It’s serene, scenic, and a perfect base to explore both quiet valley routes and more challenging fell walk
Getting Around:
Getting around is easy on foot within Boot, as local pubs, walking trails, riverside paths, and Dalegarth Station on the Ravenglass & Eskdale steam railway are all within a short walk. The area is ideal for walkers, with many scenic routes starting directly from the village. A car is recommended for exploring the wider Lake District, as Eskdale is rural and public transport is limited, and the surrounding roads are narrow and winding but offer spectacular views. For a unique and relaxing journey, guests can also take the historic steam train to Ravenglass on the coast, connecting with mainline rail services and coastal paths.
Interaction with Guests:
We’re always available for our guests so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
