This lovely area is dotted with walks, and pretty villages of thatched cottages, and lies just south of the 125-acre Sutton Bingham reservoir, home to many migrant birds including osprey, as well as having excellent facilities for fishing. A short drive takes you to ancient Sherborne with its lovely abbey and castle, and boasts a wealth of fascinating shops to explore. Alternatively, Thomas Hardy’s Dorchester, Montecute House, Forde Abbey and Yeovilton Fleet Air Arm Museum are all easily accessible. An attractive rural hamlet, also an easy drive from Dorset’s stunning Jurassic Coast, offering a tranquil and convenient base from which to tour this superb area.
