Imagine waking up to the soft sounds of nature, surrounded by majestic mountains. In the heart of the emblematic village of Curral das Freiras, you'll find a unique refuge: the Heart of Madeira.



This three-storey accommodation, with one apartment per floor, was carefully designed to reflect the soul of the village. Each detail transports us to the essence of Curral das Freiras — from colours and textures inspired by the mountainous landscape, to references to chestnuts and the famous artisanal ginja, symbols of local hospitality.



The choice of the name "O Cidrão" is not by chance. It refers to the mythical Montado do Cidrão, an area of great natural and cultural value in the parish, where the legend of the Bicho Cidrão dwells — a wandering soul of a shepherd who, according to tradition, haunts the mountains with his bellow that announces a storm. This legendary spirit is part of the community's imaginary, representing the deep connection between the people and the untameable nature that surrounds them. By naming the accommodation with this name, we pay homage to that heritage and evoke the mysterious, mystical, and enchanting side of Curral das Freiras.



The apartment offers two cosy bedrooms — one with a double bed and another with two single beds —, a modern bathroom with shower, fully equipped kitchen in an open space with living room, air conditioning in all rooms, laundry area and shared private parking.



The location could not be better: right in the centre of the village, just a few steps from the parish church and all essential services. Here, you are at the doorstep of incredible trails and viewpoints such as Poço dos Chefes, where the communion between nature and community is evident.
