Amazing stay in Funchal

My fiancé and I stayed here for 6 days with a rental car. It had probably one of the ebst views of funchal. Great accessability to the city and main highway. Place was beautfiul and tidy. Lots of amenities to cook and do laundry.

A wonderful stay

Filomena’s casa was perfect for our stay in Madeira. It was cozy, clean and had beautiful views overlooking Funchal and the ocean. There was a bus stop only 5 minutes away which made going into the city a breeze. If you want to explore other parts of the island, a car is recommended. We loved our time here. Obrigada!

Awesome Location

Beautiful house perched high on a hill overlooking Funchal and the harbour. It was clean, comfortable and had everything you needed to make your stay enjoyable.

This House (not Apartment) Exceeds the Description

I confess I was expecting an accommodation past its prime, because few recent reviews have posted on VRBO. We were in for a pleasant surprise. As Filomena explains, she purposely downplays the online description so that guests' expectations are exceeded! The house is spacious: two bedrooms, living/dining area, kitchen, bathroom, utility... and of course the balcony overlooking all of Funchal, a view even better than well-publicized miradouros. A slight mustiness, probably comes from the subtropical climate, which we got used to quickly. As others noted, you hear highway noise--but the phenomenal view outweighs this minor disturbance. We cooked in on several evenings, taking advantage of the well-stocked kitchen. Otherwise, we took Bolt/taxis to downtown restaurants, not wanting to deal with traffic and parking)... you need to be patient for Bolt to arrive especially during rush hour. I would suggest ordering your Bolt/taxi 30 minutes before you need it. We drove all over the island in our rental car. The house is very convenient to the highway. A great base! Filomena is an attentive hostess: we had clear instructions to get in the first day, and she even allowed us to check in early. Filomena came around during our visit to make sure we had everything we needed. In summary, this is an excellent base for exploring Madeira--we would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Het appartement met een schitterend vergezicht op Funchal en de bergen heeft alles wat je nodig hebt voor een mooie vakantie. Je wordt er ontvangen door een fijne dame, Filomena, die je goede uitleg geeft. 's Avonds geniet je van de duizenden lichtjes van de stad. Het geluid van de autosnelweg beneden neem je er graag bij. Je beschikt eveneens over goed werkende apparaten, zoals wasmachine, droogkast, vaat, oven, inductiekookplaat e.d. en een praktisch ingerichte keuken. In 5 minuten met de auto ben je op weg naar Funchal, een bloemenpark of een van de vele startpunten voor een onvergetelijke wandeltocht. Het appartement was telkens onze rustige thuishaven. Een aanrader!

Tolle Unterkunft mit Traumblick auf Funchal!

Wir waren für eine Woche in dieser tollen Wohnung. Es war alles vorhanden, was man auch zuhause hat (sämtliche Küchenutensilien, Handtücher, Balkonmöbel). Der Service ist spitze! Da wir erst in der Nacht ankamen, hat Filomena für unser Frühstück gesorgt! Während unseres Aufenthaltes ist das Kochfeld des Ofens ausgefallen. Innerhalb weniger Stunden war ein Handwerker vor Ort und tauschte das Kochfeld aus! Die Wohnung ist liebevoll eingerichtet und wir haben jede Menge Informationen über Madeira vorgefunden. Wir würden jederzeit wieder dort Urlaub machen. Zu Fuß kann man allerdings nicht zur Stadt laufen, der Weg ist weit und sehr steil. Es hält aber ein Bus direkt um die Ecke.

Schnuckelige Wohnung mit Super-Ausblick auf Funchal

Eine Wohnung mit dem idealen Ausblick auf Funchal. Vor allem die Sonnenuntergänge lohnen sich. Palheiro (Blandy's) Garden und Golf sind in der Nähe. Zur Autobahn ist es nicht weit, sodass sich die Wohnung sehr gut für die Erkundung der Insel eignet. Der Wagen sollte aber genug PS haben, damit man auch hoch kommt! Zum Parken stellt man sich gegenüber an die Straße. Auch ein gutes Navi ist angesagt (möglichst über Beifahrer, ggf. Google Maps auf dem Handy), weil die Wegeführung auf der Insel schon etwas verwirrend großzügig ist. Ein Bushalt Richtung Funchal ist um die Ecke (Linie 33, Halt R. Caridade Pestana D3A, www.horariosdofunchal.pt). Von der Wohnung aus erkennt man gleich morgens, ob dicke Pötte im Hafen liegen und ob sich ein Ausflug in die Stadt lohnt. Und man damit auch einen Ausblick auf die Wetterlage. In der Wohnung hat man alles was man braucht. Eine Küche mit Induktionsherd, Backofen, Mikrowelle, Waschmaschine und separatem Trockner... wunderbar, wenn man sich selbst versorgen möchte. Man findet zwei Supermärkte (Pingo Doce und Continente) in 3,5km (6 Min) Entfernung; zu Fuß im Umfeld haben wir nichts gefunden. Zwei Schlafzimmer, wobei in einem zwei Einzelbetten nebeneinander stehen und im anderen ein 140 bis 160cm breites Doppelbett. Im Wohnzimmer lädt der Kamin zum Verweilen ein, auch wenn's mal ein wenig klamm auf der Insel sein sollte (Wir waren im Jan/Feb 2020 dort). Ansonsten kam die Sonne aber um ca. 10:00 Uhr ums Eck, und es war schön warm, um sich auf der Terrasse bescheinen zu lassen. Den modernen Fernseher haben wir gar nicht genutzt, ist aber vorhanden. Das WLAN war fix. Es gab genügend Beleuchtung. Der Garten ist sehr schön angelegt und es gibt mehrere Sitzecken. Insgesamt waren wir sehr zufrieden mit dieser Unterkunft. Sie war in einem guten Zustand, war gepflegt und versorgte uns mit allem, was wir für eine gute Erholung brauchten).

Appartment with great view

Filomena is a wonderful, warm hearted landlord who helps out whenever it is needed. You can be sure to be in best hands! The appartement is large enough for 4 people. From the big balcony you have a fantastic view over Funchal und the harbor. There a also places to seat in front of the house and in the garden, where you find BBQs. The garden is very steep and perfectly maintained. The kitchen is well equipped and the table in the living room is big enough for a family. There´s a public bus to Funchal nearby. The apartment is located in the periphery of Funchal, you don´t have shops or restaurants in the neighborhood. A car is needed. Unfortunatly, there´s some noise from the highway. You hear it from the balcony and we couldn't sleep with open windows. And for German habits, the mattresses are a bit hard.

Magnifique destination.

Le gîte est conforme aux photos. Tres spacieux et bien équipé, il offre une vue magnifique sur la ville de funchal . Situé sur les hauteurs au milieu d'un jardin très bien entretenu, il est à l'écart tout en ayant un accès rapide au centre-ville à condition d'être motorisé. L'accueil de la propriétaire, Filomena, est parfait. Je recommande cet endroit pour passer un agréable séjour sur cette très belle île.

Ruhige 2 Wochen in ruhiger, romantischer Wohnung über Funchal

Es gibt nichts auszusetzen! Wir genossen die ersten zwei Wochen im Januar 2019 in diesem Haus und es mangelte an nichts! Als Golfer begrüßten wir die unmittelbare Nähe zum Palheiro Golf Course (3 Minuten mit dem Auto bergauf) aber auch die Stadt Funchal und das Umland sind schnell erreichbar. Das Haus selber ist romantisch und gemütlich eingerichtet. Weit mehr als wir brauchten war vorhanden. Der Kamin funktioniert großartig. Wir brauchten ihn aber nur einmal. Die Vermieterin, die uns jederzeitige Hilfe anbot, stellte uns zwei Heizkörper auf und das reichte auch. Alles in allem hat die Unterkunft auch im Januar 5 Sterne verdient!

Diese Unterkunft ist ein Traum. Die Lage über der Stadt bietet einen wunderschönen Blick über Funchal und den Atlantik. Die Wohnung hat eine super Ausstattung und ist sehr gemütlich - sogar ein Kachelofen steht zur Verfügung. Es fehlt an nichts (Waschmaschine, Trockner etc. alles vorhanden). Der Garten ist wunderschöen bepflanzt, hat mehrere Grillstellen und lädt zum Entspannen ein. Ein großes Plus ist auch die Vermieterin - äußerst hilfsbereit und sympathisch. Wir würden die Wohnung jederzeit weiterempfehlen.

Magnifique séjour à Madère

L'île est superbe... Et l'accueil de Filomena également ! Rarement nous avons été reçu aussi gentiment, dans un appartement coquet sur les hauts de Funchal à moins de 10 min en voiture du centre ville. Filomena est très disponibles et toujours à l'écoute de ses locataires et elle est pleine de bons conseils touristiques et gastronomiques. Merci beaucoup pour tout.
