The space
📍The term “vefio” in the Procidan dialect refers to an architectural feature typical of the island of Procida: a small balcony or terrace covered by an arched vault, often located on the ground floor of homes. These spaces, which reflect Arab influences, are characteristic of Procidan homes and represent a symbol of local architecture.

The verb “vefià” literally means “to sit looking out from the vèfio.”
Its meaning goes beyond a simple gesture: “vefià” expresses a way of being and of observing the world. It is a verb rich in expressiveness and memory, telling of a bygone era when—especially for women—their sole pastime was to lean out briefly from the vèfio, observing life as it unfolded in the street, participating from a distance and with discretion in the town’s daily drama.

This word perfectly embodies the value of the vèfio as a “stage” overlooking life—a space suspended between domestic intimacy and the public sphere, between observation and silent participation. “Vefià,” therefore, is a verb of waiting, of contemplation, of passive yet attentive social interaction, and it preserves an authentic flavour of the traditions and the slow rhythm of island life.

The spacious living area, equipped with air conditioning to ensure maximum comfort during hot summer days, includes a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare delicious meals with local ingredients. A bright veranda with a charming wicker seating area, where you can relax with a good book amid the large windows overlooking the neighbouring lemon groves, rounds out the experience.

🚢 How to Get There

Procida is easily accessible by sea:
• From Naples: Ferries and hydrofoils depart regularly from Molo Beverello and Calata Porta di Massa.
• From Pozzuoli: Ferries are available with a crossing time of about 30 minutes.

Once you disembark at the port of Procida, the house is about a 20-minute walk away or can be reached by local bus lines C1, L1, and L2, which stop nearby.
