Taigh a' Chòiste, once a working farmhouse, was fully restored in 2022 and now offers five bedrooms—two doubles, two twins, and a family room—along with three shared bathrooms. Guests share a spacious kitchen and relaxed sitting/dining area with a jukebox and a curated selection of books. The house also features a rotating collection of modern art from notable artists like Peter Doig and Michael Craig-Martin. Outside, there’s a large garden, wood-fired hot tub, and a covered outdoor kitchen.
Wild Glen Retreat is a private estate nestled deep in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, surrounded by 30,000 acres of wilderness where the River Dye winds through ancient pine forests, heather-covered hills, and expansive moorland. This is a place where the landscape feels untouched-rich in wildlife, steeped in history, and full of the quiet magic that only true remoteness can bring. From every direction, the views stretch for miles: wooded glens, rolling hills, and ever-changing skies that move dramatically from golden morning light to long, luminous sunsets.
The area offers a wealth of outdoor adventure right from your doorstep. Hike to nearby waterfalls, cycle quiet forestry tracks, or wild swim in the river. There are trails for every pace-from gentle woodland strolls to challenging hill climbs like nearby Clachnaben, with its dramatic granite tor and panoramic summit views. The estate itself is a living, working environment: gather eggs from hens, pick veg in season from the garden, and meet friendly neighbours at the estate’s own rustic pub. Whether you’re exploring on foot, sitting by the fire with a book, or simply watching the clouds drift over the hills, Wild Glen invites you to slow down, breathe deeply, and feel the landscape work its quiet spell.
Extra estate activities include: Bushcraft, Venison masterclass, Forest bathing, Archery tag, Salmon and Sea trout fishing, bike hire, axe throwing, cuttlefish casting, Vinyasa yoga, Whiskey tasting, Flower and wreath making, Art classes, Willow weaving and basket making, and a small cinema is available for private hire.
Once the booking is confirmed the Birch Stays team would be delighted to help arrange your extra activities and make your holiday truly unforgettable.
