The Pignasecca district is one of the most vibrant and characteristic areas of Naples’ historic center, located between Via Toledo and Spaccanapoli. It is especially famous for its popular market, one of the oldest and most authentic in the city, where you can truly feel the soul of Naples.
It is a crowded, fragrant place, full of colors and the sounds of local dialects.
In the Pignasecca, you’ll find some of the best trattorias and Neapolitan street food spots.
The atmosphere is friendly, sometimes chaotic, but always welcoming.
It’s a place where tradition and everyday life coexist in perfect harmony.
The name “Pignasecca” is said to come from a dried pine tree that once stood in the area. According to legend, it was a miraculous tree, linked to popular beliefs and religious apparitions.
