About this property
Riverside Cabin | Cavan Lakes | Fishing | Pet Friendly
Set in the stunning countryside of northwest Cavan near the Cavan–Fermanagh border, this cosy riverside cabin sleeps three comfortably and is ideal for couples or small families (2 + 1). With sweeping uninterrupted lake views, it’s the perfect countryside escape.
Recently remodelled from a Willerby static home, the cabin blends rustic charm with modern comfort. Inside you’ll find a warm, inviting space with wood-panelled dining and living areas, wooden floors, comfortable seating and thoughtful touches throughout.
There are two compact bedrooms; one double and one single, along with a shower room with excellent pressure and a separate bathroom. Oil-fired central heating and instant gas hot water keep things cosy year-round.
Step outside to a large all-weather veranda with comfortable seating, perfect for watching boats glide past. A second patio deck provides outdoor dining for alfresco meals and sunset views across open countryside towards Lough Dooley and the River Erne.
Smart TV and excellent fibre broadband, a Bluetooth speaker and card games are provided for relaxed evenings. The well-equipped kitchen includes a gas oven and hob, fridge (no freezer), Nespresso machine, toaster, kettle, panini press and plenty of essentials. Bedlinen, towels and starter supplies (tea, coffee pods, sugar, oil and condiments) are included. A travel cot and highchair are available on request.
Locally, visit Turbet Island or explore National Trust properties like Crom and Florence Court. Café Nua in Belturbet is a favourite for lunch or coffee.
**For anglers**
The region offers some of Europe's finest coarse fishing ; bream, roach, hybrids, perch, tench, and world-class pike. There's no close season, making it a year-round destination.
Our own jetty means you can be fishing within minutes of stepping outside the cabin. There’s no need to drive to a launch or carry gear far simply head out early and return straight back to the cabin afterwards.
Boat hire is available locally for anglers who want to explore further across the Erne system.
After a day on the water you can warm up, dry gear and store equipment in the dedicated drying room.
**For dogs**
Dogs are warmly welcome- any size, any breed. There's an outdoor tap for muddy paws, easy-clean wooden floors throughout, and open countryside on the doorstep for walks of any length.
**For water lovers**
Being right on the River Erne means the water is part of everyday life here. Relax on the jetty with a glass of wine and watch the boats glide by, take a swim, or simply enjoy the peaceful riverside setting.
Kayaks can be rented locally and you’re welcome to bring your own paddleboard or kayak to launch from the property.
Boat hire is also available for anglers or guests who want to explore the surrounding waterways.
**For walkers and cyclists**
Stroll the loop walk at nearby Castle Saunderson or venture to the Cavan Burren and the famous Stairway to Heaven trail in the UNESCO Global Geopark. Cycle into Belturbet using the bikes provided, or rent a kayak and explore the Blueway - 63km of linked rivers, lakes and still water where swans glide through the reeds and peace comes naturally.
The jetty can accommodate boats of all sizes, making this a convenient overnight stop if you’re cruising the Shannon–Erne Blueway.
