The Roost: a riverside retreat
This unique place has a style all its own.
The Roost enjoys an enviable position beside the River Glen, with its own private patio overlooking the river and the grazing horses (and llamas) in the fields. In 3 acres of grounds, with opportunities to relax and take in this tranquil setting. A further 8 acres - enclosed and situated across the river, offer an exclusive riverside walk. For more energetic guests there is use of the tennis court.
Can be booked with the Holt to accommodate 12 guests
Always on hand if you have any issues, but won`t get in the way of your holiday time.
The nearby town of Stamford is a charming, character-filled and picturesque destination. There is a thriving high street with coffee shops, restaurants and a vast range of retailers to tempt you.
Burghley House and Horse Trials, Tallington Lakes and ski slope - Grimsthorpe Castle are also close by as well as the town of Bourne. Peterborough is approximately 30 minutes’ drive.
Within 1 mile are two gastro pubs, a shop and post office as well as a local butcher.
Fishing in the river on a catch and return basis.
Nearby Baston, Lincolnshire, is a beautiful village lying on the edge of The Fens on the main A15 midway between Market Deeping in the South and Bourne in the North. The town of Peterborough lies ten miles to the south. A significant Roman feature of Baston is the Roman road leading across the fen towards Spalding. Part of the modern fen road follows it.
Burghley Horse Trials We are ideally situated for Burghley Horse Trials which are less than 15 minutes away by car, this prestigious event is not to be missed. The premier equestrian social event of the year takes place each September with over 600 trade stands, the event is almost as well known for its shopping as for its three day event. Set against the magnificent backdrop of Burghley House (Burghley House is open to the public all year round), the park will host some of the greatest international riders in a thrilling 4 star three day event.
