Escape to the country in this charming, traditional Suffolk cottage, less than a mile from the coastal village of Dunwich and with wonderful walks and cycle trails from the front door. Perfect for nature lovers seeking a slower pace of life, the rural hideaway sleeps six guests, with a welcome for one dog. Dunwich has a huge shingle beach, ideal for exhilarating walks or a swim, followed by a warming session in the neighbouring Sauna Box. Visit the beach cafe for a reviving drink and enjoy fresh seafood in the traditional pub.
A handy porch leads to the bright kitchen, equipped with all the culinary equipment you need to get cooking. The spacious lounge/diner, full of natural light from dual-aspect windows, is delightfully furnished and boasts an original beam, along with a cosy wood burner. Sofas provide comfortable seating alongside a country dining table, with a French door opening onto the garden. A shower room with a WC completes the ground floor. Upstairs, there’s a family bathroom and three pretty bedrooms: two doubles and a smaller double. Outside, the large garden with outdoor furniture is perfect for stargazing on clear nights. There is private parking for three cars.
Explore the splendid Dunwich Heath and Beach Nature Reserve, an unspoiled area managed by the National Trust. Home to rare plants and wildlife such as red deer and birds of prey, the reserve has lots for all ages to enjoy, with scenic trails to explore, a children’s play area and an information hut. One of the best bird-watching sites in the country is also close by, at RSPB Minsmere (4 miles). Take in far-reaching views from the scenic Suffolk Coast Path linking Dunwich to the pretty seaside town of Southwold (6.5 miles), with golden sands and an Edwardian pier.
