About this property
6 Bed in Cowlinge (oc-b32762)
This impressive holiday home enjoys a peaceful setting amongst the Suffolk countryside, 7 miles from the vibrant town of Newmarket. The large property boasts vast social spaces for spending quality time with family and friends and is set within a 1,500-acre parkland with lakes and ancient woodlands. If you can tear yourself away, journey into Newmarket, where you’ll find a good range of independent shops and eateries to enjoy. The town is known as the home of horseracing and has two racecourses, both of which have a busy calendar of events throughout the year. Bury St Edmunds (14 miles) also makes a lovely day out, with its fascinating abbey ruins, gorgeous gardens, and regular outdoor markets. Alternatively, head into the university city of Cambridge (20 miles), where you can go punting on the River Cam or take a tour of the city’s iconic landmarks.
The detached, redbrick property oozes style and grandeur, combining traditional farmhouse character with contemporary design elements and thoughtful touches. At the heart of the home is a gorgeous kitchen/diner with all the equipment and worktop space needed to cater for a large group. Adjacent to the kitchen area is a vast dining table for hosting breakfast feasts, as well as a cosy seating area with a Smart TV and a wood burner – the perfect place to chill out whilst waiting for dinner. For formal gatherings, you’ll find a separate dining room with a banquet-style dining table, elegant decor, and far-reaching countryside views. After dinner, head through to the beautiful main lounge, with an array of comfortable sofas and armchairs, a large bay window, and doors opening straight onto the garden. Also on the ground floor is an inviting king-size bedroom with its own en-suite shower room and direct access to outside. Rounding off the ground floor is a handy WC and a utility room. Heading upstairs, discover the remaining five bedrooms (three king-size and two twin), all elegantly styled with sumptuous linens and calming decor. One of the king-size bedrooms is connected to an adjacent twin room – perfect for a small family. Two of the bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms, and there is also a family shower room on this level.
Outside, the garden has a sunny patio area with furniture, a BBQ, and firepit for al fresco entertaining. The property is set in 1,500 acres of Capability Brown-designed parklands, with ample space for everyone to spread out and relax in breathtaking surroundings. Enjoy walks from the holiday home around the lakes, share a picnic on the sweeping lawns, or take a stroll through the ancient oak woodlands. There is ample private parking in front of the farmhouse.
