About this property

Pounce Hall -Stunning historic home in rural Essex

Escape the city and relax in this beautiful 15th century countryside house. Pounce Hall is within an hour of London and 20 minutes from Cambridge.
The house provides a cosy atmosphere and the perfect place to come and make memories with family or friends. Light up the log burner or the open fireplace in winter.
The well equipped kitchen with AGA will make cooking together a treat.
In the summer head out and fire up the BBQ and enjoy the beautiful gardens.
The space
The stunning Pounce Hall house sits on top of a hill overlooking the charming town of Saffron Walden.
Surrounding the back of the house are 3 acres of wild garden including an orchard and natural pond that leads out to local woodlands and wild meadows. Extending from the front entrance is a majestic walled lawn, perfect for catching the afternoon sun with a gin and tonic in hand.
The inside of the property celebrates the traditional features of the building and compliments them with a mix of modern and homely touches. Wooden beams and slanted ceilings frame each room, proudly speaking their history. Contemporary art and unique handmade decor show the owners love of art and the sea. It offers a space that creates the perfect balance between classiness and coziness (with emphasis on the coziness). The kitchen is fully equipped and bathroom installations are luxury as standard.
In winter months, the heat from the kitchen Aga and open fireplaces make you wish for snow after long walks. And in summer months the garden blooms, so groups can enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the surrounding area.
Pounce Hall is an unforgettable place to escape the city. Previously part of the Audley End estate, it is not only an historical property, but also a family home with the detail of a hotel.
With fast connections to London, Cambridge and rural Essex it is perfectly located for those looking to be in the countryside with the city at arms reach. Train stations and supermarkets are close by. We look forward to welcoming you to our treasured English home for a memorable and unique stay.
