About this property
3 Bed in Melkridge (oc-b33370)
Located next to a working farm and overlooking a babbling brook, this charming stone-built retreat offers families and groups of friends the perfect base to explore Hadrian's Wall country and the Northumberland National Park. The tiny hamlet on the South Tyne River is well-connected by road to the surrounding rolling countryside and many attractions, such as The Sill (3.2 miles) and Vindolanda (3.7 miles), as well as cycle routes 68 and 72, offering a haven for outdoor explorers, walkers and cyclists alike. The historic market town of Haltwhistle (2 miles) – the geographical centre of Britain – offers a great selection of independent shops, pubs and restaurants to enjoy. Discover Hexham Abbey, Sele Park and racecourse (13 miles) and explore the town of Allendale (15 miles), where shimmering rivers, pretty waterfalls, and stunning moorlands await. Situated on Hadrian’s Wall, on the border between Cumbria and Northumberland, the sleepy village of Gilsland (8 miles) boasts wonderful walks and breathtaking scenery.
Within the rustic stone exterior, you’ll find a haven of country cottage charm across this homely retreat. Through the hallway, follow the warmth of the open fire to unwind in the lounge, with plenty of comfortable seating and a Smart TV. The room is flooded with natural sunlight and boasts homely touches throughout. Equally as cosy, the snug room is a lovely place to sit and relax and features a roaring wood burner that sets the scene for relaxation – the perfect spot to unwind at the end of a day’s expedition. At the heart of this home-from-home, the spacious kitchen/diner will capture your imagination, combining rustic farmhouse touches with contemporary charm, equipped with everything you need to cook up a storm and enjoy dining with loved ones. The boot room next to a separate WC is situated at the rear of the house and is ideal for storing coats and cleaning muddy boots and paws after a long walk. Head upstairs to soak weary walking muscles in the bath, whilst listening to your favourite audiobook via the Bluetooth speakers or enjoy a refreshing shower in the family bathroom before retiring to any of the three beautiful bedrooms, which all boast calming neutral hues and plenty of homely touches. There are three king-size zip-and-link bedrooms, which can be made up as twin rooms on request.
To the rear, there’s a patio-style seating area to enjoy during the warmer months overlooking the stream below. Guests will also find private, off-road parking for one car.
