About this property
3 Bed in Huddersfield (oc-s30455)
This welcoming period farmhouse on the fringe of the rugged Peak District National Park is surrounded by countryside. Spacious, and sleeping six guests, it offers an ideal base for exploring the lovely West Yorkshire landscape, with its pretty villages and a wealth of wonderful walking trails across the hills. Animal lovers will enjoy the chance to walk with alpacas, who live on the 25 acres of land attached to the farmhouse, alongside donkeys, Shetland ponies and more. Lively Huddersfield, 2 miles away, has shops, eateries and pubs, with lots to see and do.
The detached character property dates back 250 years and has a cosy, home-from-home decor, enhanced by decorative ornaments and soft lighting. Relax on comfortable seating in the lounge and snug, each with a wood burner inside a fine fireplace and a Smart TV. The spacious kitchen/diner has all a keen cook might need, while the utility room houses dog beds for visiting pets. Upstairs are a family bathroom and three gorgeous double bedrooms, the largest beneath a vaulted roof with beams. Outside, enjoy al fresco dining in a covered area, or relax on the patio, with lovely country views, garden furniture and a BBQ.
Explore pretty Holmfirth (5 miles), familiar from the long-running TV series Last of the Summer Wine and enjoy a walk or a spin along the towpath in the Colne Valley. Charming Slaithwaite (6 miles) is a lovely starting point, with both the River Colne and Huddersfield Narrow Canal running through it. From here it’s 3 miles on the towpath towards Marsden village and the Standedge Tunnel and Visitor Centre. Set in the heart of the Pennine hills, the tunnel is England’s longest, deepest and highest canal tunnel and you can experience the thrill of a journey through its waters. In Huddersfield, don’t miss magnificent Beaumont Park, with its water cascades, grottos and woodland walks.
