About the host
Hosted by Gabriel
I was born in Edinburgh but have lived in various countries since an early age including England, Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Nepal & London (it's a country really isn't it?).
I've been a freelance visual artist since 2005, specialising in tattoo art from 2009 onwards. I'm half way through an access course for Edinburgh University and hope to start their architecture degree this year - with the plan to study the masters part abroad (currently France or Colombia being options).
I enjoy making art, reading and enjoying a healthy lifestyle that includes being conscious about the health of the planet. You'll find I've tried my best to ethically source products like organic cotton linen and natural soap and from as close to home where possible.
Knowing that my guests are enjoying Edinburgh and the comforts of my little apartment is a source of happiness and I look forward to hosting many more.

Why they chose this property
I went to school across The Meadows Park from the apartment and will hopefully be studying architecture at the Edinburgh Universities School of Architecture which is a 2min walk around the corner. It's an incredible area and great to see how much it has thrived and developed since I was a teenager.
There are a huge variety of restaurants, cafes, takeaways, museums, galleries, clothes shops, charity shops, pubs, bars, clubs and parks within a 20 min / 1 mile diameter area. You can enjoy a cappuccino on the edge of The Meadows Park before strolling over to the shops at Victoria Street, taking in Greyfriar's Bobby, The Elephant House Cafe (Harry Potter) and maybe pop back later to eat at The Outsider Restaurant.

What makes this property unique
My apartment is a Grade 2 listed building built in 1740 within a UNESCO World Heritage Site conservation area. It naturally has loads of character but was repurposed as a residential property in the 1990's and since moving in I've carried out substantial renovations and improvements.
Being on the top floor there are no noisy upstairs neighbours and in fact you have no neighbours on about 95% of the perimeter of the apartment which means that normally it is very quiet (there are occasional noises in the evening from the street).
Because I bought this apartment to live in (I will do that during term time), everything has been chosen with a huge amount of consideration to make for a comfortable and peaceful home.
