About this property
Chalet La Renarde - Expérience alpine unique
Chalet La Renarde: an invitation to travel. Nestled in Les Pècles in Chamonix, a place known for its tranquillity and sunshine, just a stone's throw from the town centre and ski lifts (Brévent, Aiguille du Midi), Chalet La Renarde offers, from balconies to terraces, a panoramic and unobstructed view of the Aiguilles, Mont Blanc and the Bossons glacier.
This singular haven of peace with 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, with a living room and kitchen on each floor, invites up to 10 people on a timeless journey where everything is but beauty, calm, sensuality... and curiosities!
Faithfully renovated in the passionate spirit of its creator, Henry Mukkenbrünn, Chalet La Renarde combines alpine authenticity and bold creativity, bohemian rusticity and design winks, mountain charm and contemporary refinement.
An intriguing comfort, always elegant, where paintings, mirrors, boards and decorated beams, carved wooden panels, serve as a setting to feast with family under the fire of the flamberge (rotisserie spit), to read by the stove, or settle in for a movie night (large screen and soundbar in the main living room and bedroom 2, more intimate screens in the other bedrooms).
Henry Mukkenbrünn dit Muck
A colourful young Pole, initiated into the art of carpentry, wood folklore sculpture and painting, but also high-level sports, arrived in 1924 for the Chamonix Olympic Games, from which he would never leave again. Helped by a cousin and a Hungarian artist friend, he would build La Renarde in 1936. 2 other chalets would follow. He would later become a ski instructor and guide until his death in 1956 under mysterious circumstances while climbing the Vallée Blanche to help a smuggler cross into Italy...
Chamonix:
No one needs to introduce this mythical valley at the crossroads of 3 countries, located at the foot of the Mont-Blanc massif, on the borders of Switzerland and Italy. Since the discovery of Chamouny by William Windham and Richard Pocock in 1741, the Chamonix Valley has become a myth for explorers, hikers and skiers from all over the world. These two adventurers revealed the interest of the great glaciers and paved the way for a destination now sought after by many travellers who come to admire the majestic Mont-Blanc, its Needles, and the Sea of Ice.
