Escape to a peaceful retreat with breathtaking panoramic views in an area with outstanding natural beauty. Cosy up by the log burner, enjoy quiet mornings with birdsong, and explore scenic country walks right from the doorstep. Perfect for nature lovers and bird watchers.
5 min drive from Redbank Events, the property offers a balance of convenience and seclusion. With super-fast WiFi, it’s equally suited for relaxing breaks or working remotely, all while surrounded by beautiful landscapes
The owner Karen, lives on site with her dog, Bess. She will not disturb you, but equally is on hand to help if guests require.
Jen will be your main point of contact throughout your stay.
This property is located in the rural area of Checkley and 5 minutes drive from Redbank Events. The property is located at the top of a steep track and is unsuitable for any low cars.
The owner purchased Haycroft Cottage in 1999, when it was a completely derelict building with no running water, drainage, electricity, gas, access, or even a phone line. During the early stages of the restoration, the owner and her children lived in a mobile home on the site (where the cabin now stands) until the cottage became habitable in 2001, though the renovation was far from complete.
Wherever possible, materials were carefully sourced from the land itself or reused from what remained in and around the original cottage.
The restoration has been a true labour of love and, in many ways, continues to evolve to this day.
Haycroft Cottage was featured in the publication Buildings & Renovations, celebrating its remarkable transformation.
The whole property is for your use during your stay.
1 king bedroom with views
2 cosy double bedrooms with views
Living space with seating for 6 and a log burner (2 fires of wood supplied for your stay in winter months)
Cottage-style kitchen with an electric oven
Outside seating area for 6 with panoramic views
It is advisable to have a your own transport to reach this home, however taxi's will run from Hereford train station.
Things to Note:
- Log Burner generally isn't used in the summer months (May-September inclusive); if you would like to use it, please request in advance
- The property is at the top of a steep track and is not suitable to be approached by any low cars
- If the weather is poor (extreme rain or snow), then the property may be hard to drive up to, but we aim to help guests reach the property as much as we can, and parking lower down the track is offered as an alternative
- The shower over the bath is handheld
- We use a professional laundry service, so expect hotel grade linens!
- This property is not suitable for people with mobility issues or young children due to extremely steep stairs up to bedrooms 2 & 3
- The owner lives on the same track with her dog Bes and is happy to help guests if needed, but equally happy to give complete privacy during your stay
