The Space:

Perched on the fourth floor of a characterful Ghent building, this loft puts you right in the pulse of one of Belgium's most enchanting medieval cities. Exposed wooden beams arch overhead, high ceilings draw your gaze upward, and the city spreads out beyond the windows in a sweep of rooftops and historic spires. It is the kind of space that feels genuinely lived-in and lovingly preserved - a rare find in any city center.

Living space

The open-plan layout brings the kitchen and living area together in one flowing space, bright and uncluttered, with the warmth of the timber frame giving the room a character no new-build could replicate. Whether you are settling in after a day of exploring the Gravensteen or planning your next wander through the Patershol quarter, the living area gives you a comfortable base to return to.

Sleeping arrangements

The bedroom is tucked into a mezzanine level, reached by stairs, and feels like a private retreat above the rest of the loft. One bed awaits you there, framed by the sloping beams - an intimate and genuinely atmospheric place to sleep.

Kitchen & dining

The kitchen is fully equipped for home cooking: refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, cooking basics, dishes and silverware, a coffee maker, toaster, and hot water kettle are all at your disposal. Stock up at one of the nearby markets and cook in, or save it for evenings when you want to wind down after a day out in the city.

Bathroom

The bathroom features a walk-in shower alongside a separate toilet. A hair dryer and shampoo are provided, along with towels, bed linens, soap, and toilet paper.

Practical details

The loft is set up for self check-in via lockbox, so your arrival is flexible and hassle-free. Wi-Fi and heating are included. Paid parking is available off premises. Please note that a washer, air conditioning, and a private entrance are not available at this property. There is no carbon monoxide detector on the property - guests with concerns about this should plan accordingly.

Location

Ghent is a city that rewards slow exploration - medieval architecture, independent boutiques, canal-side cafés, and some of Belgium's best beer all within walking distance of this loft. A breakfast and lunch spot sits directly below the apartment, making mornings particularly easy. The surrounding neighborhood is well stocked with restaurants and bars for every mood and hour of the day. Your furry companion is welcome to join you here - this is a pet-friendly space.

We loved this location! We could bike to many interesting destinations and there were a bunch of restaurants in walking distance. The street had very little car traffic. There was some noise from people chatting outside the restaurants below but it was not disruptive. The room itself was very well appointed and we were able to actually relax after nearly two weeks in hotel rooms prior to this stay. We especially enjoyed relaxing on the couch and people watching out the windows. Some downsides/criticisms:- This room is only accessible via steep stairs and the bed has another very steep stairway leading up to it. Not a problem for those with young knees but could be difficult for some.- The light switches are very confusing! This sounds minor, but there are like 20 switches. Some labels or pictographs would help.- There's something strange going on with the shower temperature knob. It seemed like turning the knob all the way "on" resulted in cold water and the hottest water was at the position where the water just began to flow. Maybe the mixing valve was installed incorrectly?I felt like my criticisms of the room did not impair the experience significantly and we truly enjoyed our stay. We can recommend this room and we highly recommend Ghent as a fun, relaxing location for those exploring Europe.
