The shops are closed on all other Sundays and public holidays.
You can easily combine your city trip to Ghent with one of the seaside resorts on the Flemish coast. Knokke, Blankenberge and Ostend are a stone's throw away.

Brussels Airport (BRU) is about a 60-minute drive or a combination of train and bus.
