Waking to birdsong
This is a perfect place to stay for the single traveller or a couple, which is almost a rarity these days, when most self-catering homes are offering to 'sleep 7, sleep 11, sleep 25 etc.' The Roost seems to be a converted hayloft above a former stable well away from the main house. This guarantees a high degree of quiet and seclusion, although the landlords, Paula and Steve, are such nice people that you wouldn't mind to see them more often. The lounge/kitchenette is well appointed, you can easily cook your meals and enjoy them with a glass of wine watching the wide range of satellite TV channels. The bed in the next room is large and incredibly comfy to sleep in, the range is completed by a tiny yet sufficient bathroom. Bright wood dominates the rooms, which together with the large skylight windows fills the apartment with friendly daylight. And if you prefer to sleep with open windows, the happy chitter of birds will wake you to a perect day exploring wonderful Hampshire. The New Forest National Park with free-ranging ponies is just a hop away, as are the historic cities of Winchester and Salisbury. The Isle of Wight is ready to be explored on a day-trip, as are the port cities from Portsmouth and Southampton to Bournemouth.
