Stay in a traditional Moroccan courtyard house in the ancient Fes Medina.
Yours alone. An entire traditional Fassi home — courtyard, terraces, panoramic rooftop views — in the heart of the ancient Fez medina. Step through an unmarked wooden door in a quiet medina alley, and you enter a different world. A traditional Fassi house that has been painstakingly restored by hand using the same craftsmen and techniques that built the original medina over a thousand years ago. It is not a hotel. It is a home, and staying here feels like one.. The house has three double bedrooms, each with its own private bathroom. Two rooms overlook the central courtyard — the heart of all traditional Moroccan homes — and the third sits on the terrace with its own sky. Mornings begin with an optional and complimentary breakfast in the kitchen or on the courtyard: fresh Moroccan bread, honey, olive oil, fruit, mint tea. Prepared and served by my housekeeper, Saadire and my manger Mohammed.
THE HOUSE
Three double bedrooms with private en-suite bathrooms
Traditional inner courtyard — light-filled and peaceful
Two terraces with views over the medina rooftops.
Traditional salon with library — a quiet place to read and plan your days
Kitchen for guests to prepare drinks and light snacks.

Air conditioning in 2 of the rooms and a fan and a heater in the 3rd bedroom. During the colder months the beds have winter duvets and electric heated under blankets. So you will never be cold.
YOUR HOST Steven is British Super host who has spent over 15 years in Fes, restoring Medina houses and working alongside local craftsmen. He knows the city in a way that few visitors or hosts ever do. His team, Mohammed and Saadire, has worked with him for over a decade and are always on hand to help with everything from local restaurants recommendations to organising Medina walks and day trips. Mohammed will always meet you on arrival and guide you to the house.
THE LOCATION Situated on a quiet residential street between Talaa Sghira and Talaa Kabira — the two great market streets of Fez el-Bali — Dar Houdou places you at the centre of one of the worlds most extraordinary medieval cities. It is a five- minute walk to the Blue Gate (Bab Boujeloud), and a 15 minutes walk to the tanneries and the Al-Qarawiyyin mosque. Taxis and restaurants are just a few minutes walk from the house.
THE PRICE The price changes a little according to the number of people in your group. So just enter the number of people that will be staying when you make a reservation enquiry and you will be given the correct price for your stay. But whether its 1 or 6 persons you will always have the whole house to yourselves.
GUIDED TOURS & EXCURSIONS Mohammed personally organises guided medina walking tours and day trips to some of the most spectacular sights in Morocco — the cedar forests and Barbary apes of the Middle Atlas, the imperial city of Meknes, and the breathtaking Roman ruins at Volubilis. Just ask and he will put together something tailored to your interests and time.
