Medieval Tudor Hall (EST. 1478) in Norfolk | Sleeps 20 in Historic Splendor
Beneath the Norfolk skies, Hales Hall whispers timeless tales in brick and bloom…
This Grade I listed estate in Norfolk, England, was built in1478 by Sir James Hobart, Attorney General to Henry VII. Celebrated for ‘The Great Barn’ – England’s largest brick barn – this historic masterpiece is nestled within lush gardens and endless farmland. Perfect for weddings, events, and exclusive retreats, Hales Hall & The Great Barn blends medieval architecture with modern amenities, offering a timeless venue where heritage and luxury create unforgettable moments.
The property is situated in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, on the edge of the world-famous Norfolk Broads National Park, just 12 miles from Norwich and two and a half hours from London.
Our magnificent Grade 1 listed Tudor Hall has recently been restored to an award-winning standard of luxury and craftsmanship, gaining first prize from the Campaign for the Protection of Rural England. Complete with seven boutique bedrooms, all individually styled with antique furniture and a natural colour palette to complement the historic brickwork and beams, the Hall offers an unforgettable stay.
The rooms have Vispring mattresses, Egyptian-cotton bed linen and bathrooms featuring showers with rainfall heads, marble vanity units and cast iron freestanding baths. Despite its size there is a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel immediately at home, with intimate spaces to congregate, cosy fireplaces and wood-burners, as well as more formal areas.
There are three reception rooms including a drawing room with a 65” TV, a library and a music room with a baby grand piano. The dining room can seat 20 for dinner, offering wonderful views of the Barn and across the open countryside. The 40-foot country kitchen has an AGA, a separate oven, two dishwashers, two large sinks and is extremely well equipped.
The gardens are our pride and joy, with acres of topiary hedges and floral avenues surrounded by towering woodland and moats on one side and panoramic East Anglian views across farmland on the other.
