True Aloha Spirit!
Truly one of the best vacation spots we have ever been to! The peaceful setting and spectacular views, along with close proximity to all the North Shore highlights made this truly what a vacation is all about!
The house had all the comforts of home, we rarely left it. We will miss the long walks on the beach and the beautiful sunsets from the lanai... We would definitely come back again!

Amazing Ocean Getaway!
Our family of 4 had an outstanding stay at Hale Pono! Beautiful location right on the water with effectively a private beach. Kids had a great time in the water and lots of things to do nearby: tide pools, Waimea Falls, cultural center. Home was beautiful with a spectacular master suite and a separate suites for all the other bedrooms. Found the living area perfect. Great communication by the owner and care taker. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful time and love the house. It is in a fab location. We did not get a chance to see some places. We will have to come back again. :) Thank You for your hospitality. D
PS. I had the best sleep during the whole vacation listening to the ocean.

Return trip did not disappoint!
This was the second stay for our family of 10 (including two grands) at Hale Pono. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing on "our" beach every day - even during the storms, the sun always manages to come out! We love that every family has their own bed and bath and that there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. Elyse and John were extremely responsive and easy to work with. This was our third trip to Sunset Beach and has become our vacation tradition. We look forward to returning next year!
My family of 6 came to stay here May 14 thru the 24. We had an amazing time. The house is beautiful and had enough space for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked as we cooked a lot of our meals in. The beach was amazing and the sunsets were beautiful. We were truly sad to leave. The host Preston helped with everything including finding a wheelchair for my husband when ours broke and even a new TV when one went out. Overall I would recommend staying here 10+ over 10!

Paradise on the beach!
This was the second summer our family of 9 spent at the Sunset Beach Colony and we were once again, not disappointed! Hale Pono is everything it is advertised to be - clean, spacious, comfortable and right on the beach. The beach is very private, nice white sand and great areas for swimming, riding the waves or floating on a boogie board. The outdoor shower was perfect; the beds were super comfortable and the back sliders all open to let in the ocean breezes and sounds of the waves crashing. Very peaceful - we didn't leave except for two dinners out the whole 10 days we were there. Location is great for local grocery shopping, restaurants and scenic attractions if that is what you want. Highly recommend this place!!!!
This property is even more beautiful than the photos show. The master bedroom is beyond anything Iβve ever stayed in before. Spectator views of the ocean. Every room has great views of the garden. The place is well equipped for a family holiday and perfectly maintained. Preston lives on site and was extremely helpful if we needed anything but otherwise we didnβt see him. I would certainly return again. We have spent every Christmas on the north shore for twenty and this is the most magnificent home we have seen there. The position is perfect.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this home!!!
This house is amazing! We came with 4 couples for a get-a-way and we were so pleased that we chose this house.
We felt like the pictures don't do it justice and were so pleasantly surprised. It was clean and comfortable with an abundance of amenities. Comfortable beds and seating with a well stocked kitchen and plenty of room for everything and everyone.
Beautiful views and awesome proximity to the beach.
Our only complaints would be no air conditioning (which we know is common for Hawaii) and the TV in the main room is Netflix only (wish it had cable) - but hey, your in Hawaii so who needs TV right?!?!
Christina T.
Response from VrboOwner on 16 Mar 2020
You definitely DO have cable as well as Netflix
I believe that Christina did not know how to access it or the cable was down. Our manager would have taken care of it with one phone call. We have cable, WiFi throughout & Bose speakers
This home will not disappoint you! It looks exactly like the pictures, furniture was clean, beds were very comfy, the kitchen had everything you need and there were plenty of spices and staple items in the pantry. The home is very spacious, the outdoor lanais are beautiful as is the view of the ocean. There is no AC in the common areas of the home, but the trade winds kick in and make for a very pleasant tropical afternoon. We had the entire second floor as our bedroom and had the windows and doors open all night with the sound of the waves lulling us to sleep. Preston is the caretaker, he met us on arrival, then only saw him 2 other times as we were on our way out for the afternoon, he is very pleasant! Truly a beautiful place!

Overall experience good but...
Our experience was good for the most part- great location, the on site property manager Alix was great. However, the house needs repair. The furniture looks tired and needs replacing. The water pressure is bad- the shower trickles down so that washing your hair is difficult. The tubs/showers do not drain. The doors do not latch and therefore cannot be locked.

Response from VrboOwner on 16 Mar 2020
Thank you for bringing these issues to my attention. I haven't been there in a few months and there is no way for me to know about water
pressure, drains, doors, etc. unless one of our guests lets me know. I want you to know that I
have called the plumber who came yesterday and fixed the drains and water pressure. Also will bring a new shower head for the outside shower since that was a new one that had a water-saving device on it. Handyman came this morning and fixed the doors.
I had already ordered all new covers and pillows for the living room from Mitchell Gold and they are being made for delivery in May

Hale Pono must be the most fun, relaxing and beautiful beach house in the North Shore! The ultimate.
My favorite place in the world! Overlooking beautiful views in all directions, clear views of Velzyland and Freddyland surf breaks, incredible sunsets, mountain rainforest views to the South, Hale Pono is a serene and peaceful oasis in top of the line luxury with a classy, cool, high-end surfer vibe. You can just walk right out on to the sand and stroll down the beach, or jump right in the friendly blue waters. Bamboo, hardwood, black stone tile and a big Buddha in the living room keeps you in the Zen zone and fosters the adventure and deep relaxation of a true Hawaiian experience. Right by all the world-class surfing beaches, Turtle Bay restaurants and golf, minutes from Haleiwa, and only a 5-minute walk to Ted's for the best plate lunch in Oahu, Hale Pono is the ultimate base camp for an outrageous North Shore safari. Can't say enough about this place. Love it! Mahalo, Jim
This home is located in a gated community just on the edge of Sunset beach. It has the best beach entry for swimmers. There is a wash out next to the property were people walk through to access the beach. This was not a problem as everyone was either a local or were coming to enjoy the beach. On a busy day there was maybe 12 people. The home has nice views and a large sloping lawn to enter the beach. Alix is the caretaker who lives over the detached with her daughter and is more than helpful and pleasant. We only saw her once during our stay so don't worry about your privacy. The home is equipped with the standards that you would expect. There is alot of condiments left from others, so that you won't need to purchase too many necessities. It was very clean and we appreciated having A/C units in each of the bedrooms. I can highly recommend this property.

Thank you for this nice review. However, Alix does not live with her daughter in the apartment over the garage. The child you saw is her grandchild who had come for a swim. Alix lives alone and also has a home in Pupukea where she spends a lot of her time.

Relaxing vacation
Wow! My family stayed at Hale Pono for our first vacation to Hawaii and we are thrilled to tell you to do the same. The nine of us had plenty of room to not be right on top of each other. The beach... amazing and very secluded! We cannot imagine staying anywhere else! We were close to so many great places to eat and do! Elyse was quick to respond and followed up with emails prior to our trip (which is calming when youβre from so far away!) Alix was super friendly and very helpful. You will love staying here, the master suite upstairs amazing! The kids had only 1 complaint... no air conditioning ( first world problems) .. we bought an extra fan(although they had plenty), and everyone was satisfied! The coastal breezes with the open windows made for great air and tranquil sounds... ahhh... We can not wait to return, we will absolutely be back to this beautiful home! Did I mention the master suite upstairs... be still my heart π.... Mahalo from Cincinnati, OH!! πβ€οΈππ

thank you so much for this lovely review. You will be happy to know that we are installing air conditioning next month when we have a maintenance break. Next time you come you will have all the air conditioning , although, I personally prefer the ocean breezes and the lulling sound of the waves at night and the birds in the morning.
We spent 10 days here before and after our wedding. The place was absolutely amazing and allowed for us to have a great time with friends and enjoy everything the north shore has to offer. Preston was very helpful and quick to get back to us. The amenities are great and the house was spotless. Thank you so much for helping us make memories that we will never forget!
Everything about this experience was above and beyond our expectations. The owners were responsive and helpful at every stage. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the north shore.
We had 8 people and 3 generations celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary at Hale Pono in early August. Making the reservation was easy, communication was clear, timely and informative, The onsite manager, Alix, was able to grant us an early check in which was very appreciated after a long travel day. The gated property is private, lush and has amazing ocean views with easy access. The house is spacious and public areas are elegant, The bedroom en suites are perfect and the kitchen was well equipped as we did cook in most nights. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to our friends. It was a peaceful retreat at the end of each busy day.
We had an unbelievable stay at Hale Pono! Absolutely one of the best spots and homes on the North Shore.
The home was perfect for our family of seven, everyone had a comfortable bed and room to spread out and relax. Air conditioned rooms were wonderful!
Kitchen and family area was perfect for mornings and evenings and the home together, and I cannot say enough about the heavenly owners suite upstairs!
The absolute best part of Hale Pono are the views, hearing the waves right outside your windows, and the access to the beach. So easy to get the kids down to the beach and then back up and showered in the fun outdoor shower!!
I will miss my morning drink in the porch listening to the waves!!
Thank you for sharing such an incredible place with our family!
My family arrived to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and our daughter's 30th birthday. We were blown away from the minute we walked in! The house and the view was spectacular.
Alix happily greeted us and was so kind to leave a wonderful carrot cake from Ted's Bakery for the birthday celebrations!
The house was extremely comfortable and spacious for the 4 couples and everyone loved it's warmth and beauty. The big couch was a favorite amongst us all!!! So comfortable.
We were all sad to leave after 10 days in this paradise. We feel blessed to have been all together and to have had such a wonderful experience.
We look forward to returning again one day!
The Capasso Family
We spent a wonderful week at Hale Pono on the North Shore. The house was spacious for 4 couples with all the amenities one could need during their stay. Having a beach right in the back yard is amazing! Alix, the property manager, was amazing throughout the whole experience. She has a residence in the garage apartment on the property but was not intrusive on our family vacation at all. She was very responsive whenever we had questions arise during our stay. Would highly recommend staying here if you want to stay on the North Shore. Haleiwa is only a 15 minute drive away, as is Turtle Bay Resort. Sunset Beach and Shark's Cove is also just down the road. Ted's Bakery is less than a 10 minute walk from the Hale Pono (get their chocolate haupia cream pie!).
The views from the upstairs master suite are incredible, and the sounds of the waves on the shore and the view of the ocean create a serene environment to enjoy your morning coffee on the lanai.

Why they chose this property
There is not a more beautiful, spacious, house on the North Shore. Each bedroom is totally private with its own full bath, and the living places are open and have fabulous views of the ocean and the garden, and can accommodate the whole group. The lanai with views of the ocean and garden is heaven to dine in or just have cocktails and watch the sun set. In addition we have a large h/c outdoor shower which perfectly reflects our idea of barefoot luxury. We encourage you to read all the reviews that our guests have left. We have lots and lots of repeat guests which is a testament to the love people have for this place. Hale Pono makes you feel as if you're in the most exclusive luxury hideaway in the world while at the same time exuding authentic Hawaiian island style, flair, spirit and tranquility of Aloha.
What makes this property unique
Total privacy and seclusion, gated house in a gated community. Spirit of aloha the minute you see the Buddha and the entire wall of sliding glass with a view of the ocean, the garden, and the beach! Paradise! Giant master bedroom with large bathroom including a double vanity, large shower, completely private on the entire second floor. Sliding doors to the large balcony with fabulous views of the ocean and Velzyland! Sleep with the windows open and hear the soothing ocean at night and the birds cooing in the morning, or shut yourself in a cocoon with the air conditioning on. Very large garden front and back for children to run around in safely with gates closed. Great enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water. Shower under the stars on a warm evening.
