Great location - easy drive to so many hikes, nearby coffee shops, Charlottesville for dinner, and so very peaceful back at the cabin. Clean house, clear communication, lovely river trails. We've stayed in many cabins through the years, and hope to return to this one.
Our family stayed in the cabin for a long weekend and it was a restful, comfortable stay. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed, and the primary bed was comfortable. The host was very responsive and helpful and made sure we enjoyed our stay. The best part was being right by the river- there’s a great trail that runs alongside which we walked every morning! We would definitely return for another visit.
The host was very responsive to my questions. The cabin is gem. It is next to a river in a secluded area in the woods but we went to several wineries. Or, you can just take a walk down to the river and see deer. We would go back to this cabin in a heartbeat. Highly recommend.
We had a great weekend at John’s cabin. Everything was perfect and exactly what I hoped it would be. My husband told me that he wished we were staying a week. Our dog had so much fun during our short hike down to the river! We plan to come back in May and would definitely consider staying at John’s cabin again!
The cabin was clean and in great shape. Had all that we needed to cook breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed a walk around the property and the fire pit out back. Would definitely stay again.
John was super great with communication and made staying at the property super easy! It was a fantastic 4th of July trip with our friends! The river is beautiful and perfect for relaxing, the fire pit is fantastic and great for smores, and the cabin is absolutely perfect! I would definitely love to stay here again!
We had a great time at John’s cabin in the woods. Nice walks to the river, firepit fires roasting s’mores, Wood Ridge Farms Brewery less than a mile away is charming and dog friendly! Many local trails nearby to hike. Thanks so much!
Great cabin for 4 adults (plus a little dog). Definitely tucked back in the woods but not far from main road to get around the area. Spacious bedrooms especially upstairs master suite. Very nice kitchen/dining area. Enjoyed time on the deck and had some nice evening fires. We also took a few walks on the trails along the river. Owner was great with communication before, during, and after our stay.
Cabin is clean, completely functional and simple. Great place to hideaway. The river - a 10min walk, or 2min drive is fantastic - really great for kids to play and adults to hang out. Great way to get off the grid. Host is excellent.
This home was beautiful a d tucked enough away that you felt you had the area all to yourself. Our host, John was on top of every communication quickly and thoroughly. Would definitely like to visit again!

Tammy, thrilled you loved the place! You're welcome back anytime!
A good location for a private getaway or attending a wedding event a few miles away with the family. The cabin was clean, comfortable, and warm. Good internet and TV connection. We would rent again.

Our family used this cabin while attending our daughter's graduation at Liberty. It was a bit of a drive from Lynchburg, about 45 minutes but not bad. While we did not explore the property much but it was secluded and very quiet. The cabin was clean and well stocked with everything we needed for our stay. While a car would be okay to get to the cabin, an SUV would make the drive easier. We would definitely stay again.

Thank you for the 5 star review Kirk. There was a guest this past winter who drove a sports car to the cabin. There are no steep areas of driving, any vehicle can get to the cabin with ease. It's a very nice gravel road.
We had such a great time on our cabin vacation. It was very clean roomy and well stocked. We needed heat and AC during our week and both worked great. Very comfy beds. So much to see and do in this beautiful area. Monticello is a must see. It was also nice to just hang out at the cabin and walk the trail to the river. John was very accommodating and easy to communicate with, and makes sure your stay is enjoyable. We hope to return soon!
The house meant our expectations. Very nice views. Did not have time to take advantage of kayaking the river and hiking trails, Maybe next time. If you want get away from the rush, this is the place to stay.
This lovely home has easy access to 29, yet is tucked just far enough into the woods that it feels like you’re a world away. The home is clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed during our stay (to include excellent WiFi and air conditioning that kept us quite comfortable despite the high heat/humidity outside). We especially enjoyed following the mowed trail to and along the Rockfish River, where we saw a wide variety of wildlife. I hope that we have an opportunity to visit again sometime soon!
