A charming English country home set in a beautiful village 28 miles from London!
This pretty, single story house is located in a quintessential English village of Penn in Buckinghamshire, in a small, private road with four other private homes. It is close to the village common with a duck pond and three lovely village pubs. The village is 3 miles away from the sought after town of Beaconsfield and the train station with trains taking 30 minutes to London. The house is comfortable and furnished in the traditional English country style. Entering a spacious hallway, in front of you is the double aspect sitting room which has French doors opening out onto the garden and a stone paved terrace with barbecue and outdoor dinging table and chairs. There are three comfortable sofas, a plush Chinese rug, other furniture and lighting and works of art on the walls. This lovely, bright and light sitting room with TV also overlooks the village church which completes the idyllic setting within a picture postcard location. To your right is a large kitchen/diner with plenty of storage, American fridge-freezer, dishwasher, induction hob, microwave and a triple oven and a kitchen island, all recently replaced. One wall is furnished with a dresser and a chest of drawers which is reserved for the use of the owner only. The dining table seats six people comfortably. There is direct access to the garden through another set of French doors. Off the kitchen there is a laundry room with a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
At the other end of the hallway are two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master double bedroom has a king size double bed, two wardrobes, two bedside cabinets with table lamps and an antique chest (the latter not for the use of guests). There is also a small wall mounted TV set. From the bedroom you enter your en-suite bathroom which has a separate shower cubicle and a bath tub and a toilet There is shelving and a small bench in the bathroom. This bathroom can be shared with the second, twin bedroom as there is a second door leading from the bathroom to the hallway. This door can be locked from the inside if required. The bed is provided with excellent bed linen and there are plenty of towels provided. Across the hallway from the main bedroom is the smaller, twin bedroom with twin beds measuring 90 by 180 cm. There is a shared bedside cabinet with a lamp and a set of shelves which have drawers for the use the guests, Additional hooks are provided for hanging clothes. This bedroom overlooks a little, pretty private road which is very quiet and only used for the cars of the families living in the road or their visitors. There is no through traffic.
The house also provides a hair dryer, iron and ironing board, plenty of towels and tea towels, toiletries, a safe and several vacuum cleaners. In the house there is a third bedroom which is private and locked and not in use. Also the main dining room is not in use and locked.
The garden is well kept and stocked with trees, shrubs and flowers and has a good area of lawn. A gardener comes once a week discretely. There is parking for two cars in the front of the house.
The village of Penn has a well stocked grocery store just a few minutes away from the house. There is also well known café next to the shop where coffee is delicious and you can have light lunches or buy food to take away. A couple of minutes walk from the house is our gastro pub "The Old Queens's Head" which we highly recommend for cocktails, a special pub lunch or evening dinner. In the summer months their delightful garden serves food outdoors. Just a few more minutes, by the pond, there is a lovely pub/restaurant called The Red Lion which has inglenook fireplaces and delicious food, welcoming dogs as well. Our closest pub is The Horse and Jokey, which has recently been refurbished and is a great place to have a relaxing beer.
If you enjoy country walks, you are in a perfect place as there are woodlands all around the village. In Beaconsfield there are individual shops, several lovely cafes and restaurants serving steak, Asian food, excellent curries, Italian food and Michelin Star food. There are several supermarkets and a library, a weekly farmers market in Tuesdays and a very special place for children and adults - the mini town called Beaconscott where you can explore a miniature version of Beaconsfield and have your children well occupied for several hours. T here is a cafe and a ride on little train and playground.
