We highly recommend that you purchase travel insurance. Problems can arise in multiple ways and travel insurance can be a low cost guard against losing your money if you have last minute problems and have to cancel. In the past, some of our guests have obtained insurance by going to www.InsureMyTrip.com for details and to purchase. We did call the people at InsuraneMyTrip and they do have plans that will cover for Covid issues but there are several important steps and needs to be done shortly after making your first deposit. The plans are called "Cancel For Any Reason" CFAR. Check with your insurance agent before deciding what insurance to purchase. We DO NOT endorse any insurance in particular.

Great location for our family to enjoy some time together at Winterplace. The hosts answered any questions promptly. Updating the lighting, especially in the kitchen area, would be a great benefit.
Place was everything advertised:) We enjoyed our time and hope to stay there in the future. Great location, clean , and the property manager was quick to respond to any questions . Very close to Winterplace which was a definite perk :)

Thank you for your review! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay and would love you to have you back.
The house was actually much better than the pictures gave it credit. The dryer did not work but the sellers informed us of issues with it prior to our arrival. All was great and we will visit again!
Not as described. Location right off main road. Bed not comfortable.

In the first part of our description we have; "Easy access right along Rt. 19 with roadside and private off-street parking" I'm sorry you weren't happy with the location and found the bed uncomfortable.
Better suited to sleeping 11 in beds. Futons aren't that comfortable sleeping.

I agree that futons in general aren't the most comfortable for sleeping on. We are looking into other options for the living room but haven't yet decided what would work the best for extra sleeping and normal living room use. Thanks for the feedback.
This day was good My sons aren't used to the mountains so the driving wasn't good for them but the cabin slept good TV everything was good The people that stayed in it before us left a few dirty dishes that's like we're kind of hidden but I don't think that was the cabin's fault

Sherry, thanks for leaving us a review. Sorry it sounds like some dishes were missed being found from the previous guests. Yes, the mountain roads are definitely far from being straight. Glad you had a good stay overall!
We had a total of 6 adults & 9 teens. At first, once we arrived we questioned whether we would all fit however it worked perfectly for us. We did use the futons in the living room, host did mention to bring queen size bed sheets. Though not the most comfortable it worked for the 3 adult couples. Overall experience was great.

Thanks for taking time to leave your review. So glad to hear it worked out for your group and you enjoyed your stay.
The Coal Miner's Cabin has a cozy atmosphere with flexible space that works for groups. It is well kept and clean. We enjoyed out stay and encourage others to check this little gem of a cabin out!
We had a week-long visit with family in Beckley. We didn't want to be cramped up into hotel room, which would have cost nearly the same as staying in the cabin. In advance of our arrival, we had received an email from the property manager regarding checkin, house rules, amenities available. Having basic pantry items in stock took away the stress of trying to anticipate and pack simple cooking basics like salt and pepper. Hotel kitchenettes don't provide even those items. My son had left his toiletries at home. Well voila, there in each bathroom bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The bunk style beds were comfortable in the 2 downstairs bedrooms. Unique feature to the area, the downstairs, backdoor entrance straight into the bathroom. Handy if you're grimy from a day of hiking.
Great location. Needed few more towels and wash cloths. House wasn't quite as clean as last stay but we will be back. Thanks again

Thanks for your review! I'm sorry you didn't have enough towels and the house wasn't quite as clean. Please request more towels if needed and just like everyone our cleaners are having staffing shortages with people off sick. Hopefully, this crazy world will have righted itself some by next ski season.
When you first see this cabin, your thought is that it’s to small for a large group to stay there. We had 10 adults, 3 teens and a 8 yr old, we had PLENTY of room!
The living room & kitchen/dinning area of course with the open floor plan was very comfortable for us to gather together for meals and planning our WV Adventures!
We were in town for a Family Reunion and stayed a few extra days. We toured the Coal Mine Exhibition and everyone enjoyed it. Would recommend.
Thank you for the use of your cabin. Definitely would come back. Next reunion is 2023 if they continue having them. Sad to say most of our older folks have passed on and the younger generation not so interested.
God Bless,

Thank you! I'm glad you had plenty of room for all your family and hope you can continue to get together, family is soo important.
If you are looking for a practical place to stay while you explore southern WV, this is the place for you.
If you are exploring a "destination"/luxury place, keep looking.
We were in the first category and made good use of this "cabin"

Property was nice, spacious, great location. We were approximately 4 miles from ski resort.
Cabin is huge and we could have slept a dozen more. Owners were attentive and responsive to general questions from the initial contact til we left. Lots of lists provided for places to eat, things to do and see, as well as discounts for local attractions. Well done. Would and probably will come back.
