Organic cotton bedding and towels. Eco-smart but luxurious.
The property is entered through the entrance porch where coat hooks await damp jackets and there is ample space for outdoor footwear to be left behind. The utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer is next door, whilst the hallway leads off into the heart of the home; the spacious open plan living / dining / kitchen area. With large windows on three walls, the room is light and open. Through each window the views can be enjoyed. On wet days, from the comfort of an armchair. On warm sunny days, patio doors can be opened.
The kitchen is very well equipped if you decide to cook or bake. It is framed by a Bisazza tile mosaic backsplash that captures, in Fair Isle sweater fashion, the key natural elements of mountain, sea, snow and deer. The main table readily accommodates 6, 8 if extended.The sitting area looks out over the garden and orchard, and beyond to the Cuillins, Macleod’s Tables, and the loch. There is one bedroom on the ground floor (king) and two on the first floor (one king, one with two single beds). 4 Vellux skylights let in lots of light and frame the views. There's also an exercise area and printer on the first floor.
The garden has a lawn and a paved patio area with a portable Morso fire pit/pizza oven to enjoy the long summer evenings and toast marshmallows on. Plus a Solo fire pit for cooler nights. There is an ample outdoor table and chairs (seats six). There is private parking for up to three vehicles and an electric car charger for guests to use. The whole property is wrapped around by a beautifully constructed dry stone wall.The garden itself features native plantings, heaths and heathers and fruit trees and is criss-crossed with paths for easy exploration and enjoyment.
The Croft, which you are welcome to explore, has four main subareas. There is an orchard of 300 trees, largely Scottish heritage apples, but also pears, plums. damsons and quinces. Across the road towards the loch are fields for soft fruits and a nut orchard (another 300 trees). Beyond this, a forest of 4000 trees is starting, with a broad selection of native deciduous trees and a pond. There is a walkway that leads you through this forest down to the fourth area, a preserved original birch and rowan rainforest that hugs the shore of the loch, which is carpeted with bluebells and ferns in season. Take care not to disturb this amazing resource.
Everywhere on the property there are spectacular views. To the north lies Harris,12 miles away. Across the loch is beautiful Waternish, and Dunvegan Castle. To the south and east the Tables and the glorious Cuillin range provide ever changing vistas with rainbows, clouds and mists, or glorious sun.
10 Husabost is located near Colbost and shops and restaurants in Glendale (2 miles) and Dunvegan (6 miles), it is ideal for those looking to frequent The Three Chimneys restaurant (booking recommended) as well as exploring Waterstein, Neist Point and the rest of the Isle of Skye. Portree and Broadford are both 45 minutes drive through gorgeous scenery.
