Mixed Feelings: A Review of our Palm Springs Stay
Our recent trip to Palm Springs with lifelong friends was filled with cherished moments, but it came with mixed feelings about the property we stayed in. Nestled in a quiet neighborhood and conveniently close to downtown Palm Springs, restaurants, and local attractions, the location couldn't have been better. However, the property itself left much to be desired in terms of maintenance and upkeep.Upon arrival, we found broken patio umbrellas on the pool deck and outdoor furniture with torn fabric, rendering one lounger unusable. Despite reaching out to the owner about the broken umbrellas, promised replacements never materialized during our stay.
Indoors, the need for tender loving care was evident - a broken lamp in the living room, missing & broken slats on the sliding door to the pool in the master bedroom, and bathrooms lacking in fresh towels, with only a few worn beach/pool towels available.While the house embodied the typical Palm Springs aesthetic - mid-century modern with concrete floors and an eclectic vibe, it lacked certain essentials we've come to expect from VRBO rentals over the years. Basic amenities like kitchen trash bags and dishwasher detergent were missing, and we even found a dirty coffee cup with dried, cooked egg stuck to it that had been placed in the cabinet as if clean. The existing coffee pot was in such poor condition that we opted to purchase a replacement from a local store.
Despite its shortcomings, the property has potential.
