About this property
3 Bed in Fairbourne (oc-f42826)
This traditional, detached bungalow is in a quiet spot in the seaside village of Fairbourne, offering a comfortable and practical base from which to explore Snowdonia National Park (Eryri) and this glorious Welsh coastline. It makes the perfect base for a family, plus up to two dogs, looking to be outward bound. Head to the beach (350 metres) which is pebbly, with more sand exposed at lower tide. Pop into the village itself for its 9-hole links golf course, children’s play area, but you simply must hop on the fun miniature steam railway (dogs welcome!) that’s been going for over 100 years, taking people from the village to the mouth of the Mawddach Estuary and connecting with the ferry to Barmouth. But walking and cycling are big draws here, with the Mawddach Trail (6 miles). The even more ambitious can climb Cadair Idris (16 miles).
Head into the hall through the useful porch and stow your outdoor gear. You can store any provisions you’ve brought with you in the well-equipped kitchen, with inspiring views of the lovely foothills behind. There’s a generous dining room, easily seating six for family meals, games or planning. Afterwards, you can retire through the archway to the cosy lounge with plenty of comfy seating and an electric log-effect fire for cooler months. Being a bungalow, all three bedrooms are on the ground floor but, with one king-size bedroom, one double and one with bunk beds, the sleeping accommodation is both flexible and sure to provide a good night’s sleep.
Outside there’s mature shrubs and planting to the front of the house, while the enclosed back garden is laid to lawn with a border of established trees and shrubs, and a stream trickling by just the other side of the fence. There’s plenty of space for everyone to relax, whatever they fancy doing. And pooches will love all the new sniffs. Make the most of the weather at the paved patio with furniture and a charcoal BBQ for al fresco dining. There’s plenty of space to store your bikes, canoes or paddleboards in the garden, and space for one car or two small cars to park on the drive.
