Town: Hetton, along with its near neighbour Rylstone is one of the most popular villages in the upper Wharfedale community. The local Women’s Institute was responsible for the famous charity calendar that later became a box office hit film 'Calendar Girls'. The stone houses clustered along the single street date from the 17th and 18th Century with many outstanding family homes and a scattering of traditional old farmsteads. A thriving small and friendly community is served by the Angel Inn, an award winning Gastro Pub with a wide reputation for outstanding beers and food, and full of atmosphere and charm with oak beams, nooks, crannies and crackling log fires. Close to Linton Falls on the River Wharfe, this is a superb walking area, with many paths to other villages, and easy access to the limestone fells. Up dale are Grassington, Kettlewell and Buckden, with spectacular limestone scenery. Hetton is a great base for exploring the local area with the market town of Skipton and its medieval castle a short drive away, and many other historic places including Bronte Country, Castle Howard, the elegant spa town of Harrogate, racing at Ripon, the majestic medieval city of York and the stunning Lake District within easy motoring distance.
