Giba enjoys a strategic and central location within the Sulcis-Iglesiente region, in southwestern Sardinia. Situated just a few kilometres from the sea and surrounded by a hinterland rich in history, it serves as an ideal starting point for exploring the coast and the surrounding cultural sites.
Thanks to its proximity to the Sulcis coast, you can quickly reach renowned stretches of golden sand and crystal-clear waters from the town centre.
Porto Pino: Located about a 10- to 15-minute drive away, it is famous for its imposing dunes of pure white sand and its Aleppo pine forest.
Sant’Antioco Island: Accessible in about 15–20 minutes via the road isthmus, it offers various picturesque coves and beaches such as Coacuaddus and Maladroxia.
Teulada: Reachable in about 15–20 minutes by car, it enriches the surrounding area by offering some of the most spectacular beaches and coves on the southern tip of the island, such as Tuerredda, Porto Tramazzu, and the inlets of Capo Malfatano.
The gulfs and bays adjacent to Giba benefit from the area’s constant winds (such as the Mistral), making the area a premier destination for kitesurfing and windsurfing.
Porto Botte: Located within the municipality of Giba (just 5–10 minutes from the town centre), it is one of the most renowned kitesurfing spots in southern Sardinia, thanks to its shallow, flat waters and excellent wind conditions.
