We are not glitzy travelers. We do not want a high end resort. This house was great for our families with two small children. There was ample space for each family to have privacy, a great screened in porch, a functioning kitchen. If you are looking for a place to stay that is comfortably lived in - this is the place for you.
Definitely an older home. A lot of stairs to get into the house both front and back. Very large and lots of space and bathrooms! Air conditioning could be more efficient. The back yard and view are lovely and the grandkids loved the kayaks. Kitchen older but adequate. Great new refrigerator. Smelled strongly of mothballs when we arrived. It eventually dissipated. For the space and number of bedrooms and baths it is a bargain
We had a wonderful time staying at this house on Chincoteague Island!! Perfectly located and easy to get everywhere we wanted to go. Lots of kayaks and bikes for fun. Large house with lots of space for everyone. Property manager was easy to communicate with. Bucket list vacation!!!
The house was spacious with plenty of room for our family to spread out and enjoy time together. The bedrooms were separated enough that everyone enjoyed a peaceful sleep. The rental was on a secluded street but close enough to town and the beach that we could easily ride bikes or travel by car in minutes. The manager of the VRBO was accommadating and helpful for our stay.
Our family reunion was wonderful! The large screened porch was ideal for family meals and gatherings. The kayaks were great for exploring. The kitchen is superbly equipped. The bedrooms were perfect for a large group. Host was very helpful from beginning to end. Thank you!
Although the beach house is a bit shopworn it was perfect for our group of 11 people consisting of 6 adults and 5 children ranging in age from 3 to 14. The house is large with plenty of room to spread out. We especially enjoyed the huge screened in porch where there was more than enough room to enjoy communal meals and just hang out as a group. We took advantage of the house's kayaks, bikes, fire pit and outdoor gas grill and just had a great time.
We just returned from a stay here. The home was clean, comfortable and more than spacious. There are some needed updates but that did not deter from our enjoyment of this home. Favorite places within the residence were the large, enclosed back porch and the backyard inlet. If we return to the island, we would definitely consider returning here.

Beautiful house, clean, family friendly, definitely recommend
We enjoyed our stay as a family here at Waters Edge. The house was clean & welcoming, the rooms were tastefully decorated & comfy, jealous of all the counter space ;), beautiful, breathtaking views from front of house & back of house. Kids loved the dock out back where we went crabbing; caught several. Definitely recommend this house. I’d give it 10

So glad you enjoyed your stay! Thanks for the kind words about this home. We hope you come back and stay again soon! Take care, Rodney
My sister and I took our families and our Mom to Chincoteague for the week and this place worked out perfectly. Six kids under 7 loved running around the spacious main level and when it came time for sleeping, we were able to keep them on opposites of the house. The kayaks, dock, and bikes all seem to be in good shape and area great additions to the indoor space. The neighborhood is quiet, and still just a short drive to everything on the island.
The house is sitting in front of the water. Although some part of house is old. Overall is good if you are enjoying nature more than the interiors. Plenty of rooms., wish the owner tell me there are Jon boat before checking in. Then I could bring me small motor/trolling motor to have more fun.
Location was perfect. Large house with plenty of bedrooms, bathrooms, and common space. Lots to do around the area. Property has nice water access with 2 small docks. House was in pretty fair condition. Could use some new carpets, doors, door handles (at least two of them got stuck and were difficult to open). Kitchen is very well stocked with pots/pans and good space to work. Kayaks, paddle board, and bikes were a great addition to the stay.
My family had a wonderful time at Water's Edge! The spacious accommodations worked well for our multigenerational group, affording each of us some privacy while providing lots of common space for meals, games, and just hanging out. The house is in a wonderful location in a quiet residential community with easy canal access to the bay from both the floating dock and the nearby community boat launch. Although we brought a lot of our own equipment, there were plenty of bikes and water toys. All appeared to be in good condition. We borrowed two of the kayaks to supplement our own. The kids enjoyed crabbing from the dock - they even caught a few! We were pleasantly surprised at the updates to the interior (compared to the listing photos, which, honestly, could use an update). All of the rooms were very clean and Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows and newish linens, and the provided towels were soft and fluffy. The hotel-style housekeeping was excellent, with lots of little extra touches. The kitchen was reasonably well appointed. Appliances were clean and in good condition. Cookware and dinnerware were adequate. There's not much extra cabinet space in the kitchen, so we used the office just off the entrance store to store our extra drinks and snacks, coolers, and small equipment.Rodney was an easy host to work with, and we would be happy to rent from him again.
Views are great, location great, perfect for family gatherings with multiple open areas to gather and big kitchen to serve. Beds and bedding were comfy and clean. Just needs work-paint, replacement screens, new carpets, a/c needs checked, a bit musty, holes in screen by basement steps could be safety issue for small child. Bikes need air in ties,. Needs update but very comfy.

Perfect location and size - could use some updates
Perfect location and size. We enjoyed our visit and being able to spread out. Had a few issues with communications to know how to check in and check out (received the information an hour before check in after we were already in route so I was a bit concerned). As mentioned in other reviews, reallly could use some updates. The shingle siding is the original siding and needs replaced to protect the structure and the bathrooms and kitchen are like stepping back into the 80s. Overall, good location and price.
Our group of four families (7 adults and 4 young children) had a perfect vacation at Waters Edge. The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet, but mere minutes away from shopping, restaurants, and activities for all ages including Assateague Beach and Assateague Island National Seashore. The house was well-stocked with games, kitchenware, and everything we needed for a comfortable multi-family stay.
There was a snafu during the check-in process due to a communication error between the VRBO booking, host, and cleaning crew, which resulted in a late check-in, but the host was incredibly responsive and pulled out all the stops to remedy the situation as quickly as possible and for that we were extremely appreciative. Will stay at Water's Edge again! Thank you!!
Oyster Bay is fantastic. The scenery is beautiful. Looking out the screened in porch is a wonderful way to end the day. We enjoyed kayaking around with the two kayaks the hosts let us borrow. There were lots of bikes that we would've used had we not brought our own. Some of the shades are broken, letting in a lot of light on the east side of the home early in the morning. There's also a lot of moisture in the house - which is common with beach houses. A hurricane had come through the previous week - so I suspect it was damper than usual. Lots of space to eat dinner for a big group, the kitchen is easy to move around in. And... there was a Ms. PacMan game which was great fun for the adults and teens.
