We loved the setting for this look like new cottage! It was along the Rockfish river and very private. We enjoyed walking about and had it been warmer might have tried the kayaks. Sleeping was not that great with the room that had only one small futon. Also wish there had been a wood stove or electric logs that would have made the cabin more cozy. Location was great though--close to many things to do yet private and beautiful!

Hi Mary, thank you for your review. I have since removed the sleep sofa and replaced it with a new queen size bed with a very comfortable 11" memory foam mattress. All the best and hope you all will return!
The location and cabin are "beautiful"! We had a very relaxing vacation which was SO needed. We enjoyed the peacefulness of the location and we slept so well all 5 nights. We enjoyed walking to the river during the day and sitting by the fire pit at night. On our last day while we were sitting on the porch my wife said "this is the location and cabin that I would love to live in when I'm retired". (Which is only a couple years away) Thank you for sharing your beautiful cabin with us, we're looking forward to coming back again 😀
My husband and I stayed at this property for our "mini moon". It was a lovely getaway during these stressful times. The house was clean and modern, and situated far enough away from the main road and other houses that we had plenty of peace and privacy. We loved the firepit and the short trip down to the river. John provided directions to the cabin, along with directions to the river, with clear markers to indicate the path. A lovely place; would be great for a small family as well given the second bedroom and two full baths. We were also very close (about a 10-15 min drive) to a grocery store, which was helpful since we cooked most of our meals during our stay. We were also only about a 30 min drive from many great hiking paths. We saw a ton of cute shops and roadside farm stands along the way as well.
An extremely remote cabin, exceptionally clean and well organized. Maybe the most quiet setting we have ever experienced. Only issue was some parts of the stone driveway had to be negotiated extremely slowly or the stones would bounce up against the frame.
If you want a cute place in the woods this is your place. Saw plenty of deer and can walk down to the river. VERY quiet. Very comfortable place. It is on a gravel/dirt road and very dark at night. Will definitely be back
This is a nice new construction cabin in the woods. We enjoyed our stay and found the place well maintained and clean. The river is a short hike from the cabin with a mowed path along the bank.
John, the host, is great - quick response to my self inflicted problems! He made all our troubles go away.
Would definitely stay at this property again.
Exceeded expectations! Everything was perfect, including the weather. Great location, central to all the things we wanted to see and do in Nelson County. John was very welcoming and responsive. Beautiful cabin and we loved walking down to the river. Incredibly peaceful and private.
I took my family for a weekend getaway and this was THE BEST experience we've ever had! This cabin and property is by far the cleanest, most beautiful, tranquil place we've ever been to. The owner is absolutely fantastic and has really put a great deal of effort to ensure you have the experience of a lifetime. My wife and kids had the best time ever and I loved every second of it! Thank you and we will be coming back soon!
My wife and I spent October 17-24 in a lovely spot near Charlottesville, VA.
The cabin was almost new and was built for convenience. It was located on 140 acres and very private. It was a short walk to the Rockfish River. Although it was mid-October, several day had temperatures near 80 degrees, so we didn't use the fire pit much and turned on the house a/c. Due to Covid, there weren't the usual leftover condiments in the refrigerator, but there were all new appliances and plenty of dishes and silverware. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean and modern. For entertainment, there was a smart tv with Roku, that gave us plenty of choices especially when we logged onto our Netflix and Amazon Prime accounts.
The Owner, John, was very clear with his information before we arrived, so we had no issues. I only contacted him one time during our stay and he was very quick to respond. I was happy to do business with him and appreciated his attention to detail.
After being cooped up and working from home for 8 months, we were just glad to get a break away. The trees were gorgeous this time of year. We were able to visit several wineries and cideries in the area. Although we mostly cooked for ourselves, we did find plenty of restaurant opportunities locally.
If you want a relaxing time, just a few hours from the DC Metro area, I would highly recommend this property and owner.
The Cabin was great. My original destination was postponed & then canceled due to the pandemic & luckily I found this cabin available. I was looking for seclusion & internet availability this had both. The river trail was a great hike & the view from the backyard & deck were amazing. I had fires in the fire pit & streamed concerts that my canceled music festival put online for ticket holders. I grilled out on the deck which was delicious. The kitchen & dining areas were really nice, everything was clean & the shower had great water pressure & hot water. I really enjoyed the property & slept like a log. I would definitely stay here again. No issues except make sure your car can navigate an unpaved stone trail, I drive a compact city car & although I made it thanks to front wheel drive it was a little touch & go getting uphill on the trail. Otherwise no complaints.

Joseph, thrilled that you had a great stay at the cabin and thank you for the excellent 5 star review. Your term "unpaved stone trail" made me smile. It's actually referred to as a gravel road and was professionally installed. Although there aren't any steep areas, I'm happy your "city car" did fine. My wife has a rear wheel drive, driven the road many times, never had any problems. ) Anyway, thank you again and you're welcome back anytime!
