The Retreat at the Dam is a newly renovated home set on the most peaceful part of Elk Lake in northeastern PA. Located next to the dam of the lake, here you’ll experience a peaceful respite that will rejuvenate you during your stay leaving you refreshed before you head back to reality.

This home has a spectacular view of the lake and the surrounding mountains, but allows you to escape the activity that comes with the enjoyment of the water. With a flowing waterfall over the dam, nothing beats the serenity experienced while sitting on the porch in peace, with spectacular views, a book in one hand, and a drink in the other.

The 2,700 square foot home was recently remodeled in 2013 with luxurious features such as a fully equipped kitchen, a gas fireplace, coffee bar, beautifully tiled bathrooms, and a newly built dock, you’re sure to have all of the feels of home while on your getaway.

***For COUPLES*** who are looking to escape and reconnect with each other, reserve JUST the master suite bedroom (2 downstairs bedrooms would be closed off) at a discounted rate by indicating so in your initial booking message. A 20% discount will be applied when your booking is confirmed. There's nothing better than the sunrise view from this master suite and the master bath is a couple's haven!

A stay at The Retreat is a vacation experience unlike any other. With the owners just a mile away, we are committed to making sure you will have every need met and your stay with us is exceptional! As part of your stay, a welcome basket with local treats you're sure to love, enjoy a relaxing kayak or paddle board trip around the lake, cozy patio furniture while sitting around the fire pit, a fully stocked book shelf with great reads, and a complete coffee bar to keep you running all day.

The Retreat offers additional services such as in home massage treatments for the ultimate in relaxation, prepared date boxes to make the most of your couples escape, meal preparation upon request, grocery shopping, and other amenities which allow you to truly enjoy your stay without having to lift a finger - we’ve literally thought of everything!!

The property owner Heather was amazing. It was my wife’s birthday. Heather decorated the house with birthday balloons and streamers. Heather also cooked us a home made meal to order! We put in our request and she dropped it off at the house.if you are looking for a quiet house with a beautiful view, this is a great choice.

Wonderful lake retreat

Our stay was beyond measure. Communication was precise, clear and timely from beginning to end. House is appointed perfectly and properly . Everything was thought of for our stay. Beds are glorious and so comfortable. View of lake from porch and bedrooms is stunning. Upon arrival we discovered a wonderful welcome basket and note. There should be more stars so I could rate the host and property a 10. Highly recommend.

Ray and Heather have been married for 7 years and have 4 children. They both grew up in the rural parts of northeastern PA, furthered their education elsewhere, but the quaintness of Elk Lake and family brought them back to their roots. In 2010, the couple met and have been on adventures ever since. They enjoy traveling, golfing, bird hunting, skiing, time with family, and of course relaxing on the lake. Ray owns his own farming and excavation company, while Heather, a retired teacher and now stay at home mom, breeds German Shorthaired Pointer pups and manages The Retreat at the Dam rental property.

Why they chose this property

Ray purchased this home from his Uncle back in 2009 and together, with Heather, the couple stripped it down to nothing for a completely new look inside with the intention of eventually moving into the home full time. Our family grew and there just wasn't enough room for us, but we couldn't let this beautiful home go unused. So, the home that we lovingly refer to as "the dam house" is now an exclusive getaway for the ultimate in relaxation!
