About this property
Blue Heron Lakehouse: Spectacular Luxury Waterfront Home on Lake Sammamish
A stay at this incomparable 5-star waterfront home is much more than an accommodation. From the moment you step inside the front door you will be treated to magnificent views of Lake Sammamish and the mountains beyond, beautiful spaces filled with light and art, luxurious touches and over-the-top amenities. Blue Heron Lakehouse has a personality all its own, with a colorful collection of contemporary art that adds to the visual appeal.
Though Blue Heron Lakehouse is just 25 minutes from Seattle, it’s surrounded by woods, gardens and water, giving a sense of privacy and making a stay here a true getaway. Northwest-inspired gardens, expansive flower borders and a natural waterfront draw wildlife ranging from deer and raccoons to bald eagles to the home’s iconic great blue heron.
The main floor features a plush, private primary suite with gorgeous lake and mountain views. A bunk room for 4 is also situated on the main floor. There is plenty of room for entertaining on this level, starting with the home’s new media lounge, with a full granite wet bar, which features a Sub-Zero beverage fridge and fun contemporary glasses and barware. A contemporary leather sectional offers comfortable viewing for the 75” flat-screen with 5.1 surround-sound, and a nook holds a poker/games table.
At the heart of the main floor, the great room features a large, curving sectional and leather swivel chairs facing the lake. An open-concept granite-and-stainless chef’s kitchen at one end of the great room is furnished with high-end appliances and stocked with All-Clad cookware and everything needed to prepare feasts. There is seating for 3 at high-top stools at the kitchen island and 8 at the adjacent live-edge dining table. A balcony off the dining area has a bistro set for morning coffee, and a spiral staircase steps down to a terrace near the hot tub.
On the lower level, a canary-yellow modern sectional faces a 65” flat screen. There are three bedrooms on this level: The Stream Room (king), a spacious room with a window wall overlooking a peaceful shade garden and stream; the Patio Suite (queen), with French doors opening to a leafy, private side patio; and the Lakeview Room (queen), with a window wall that opens to the upper terrace.
All the bedrooms feature soft linens, cushy bathrobes and fluffy duvets for peaceful slumbers, and the bathrooms offer a range of comforts, from heated floors and natural soap and shampoo products to curbless showers with rain-shower heads.
Unlike most houses on the lake, we have expansive gardens in front of the house, with terraces stepping down to the lake level. Just outside, on the upper terrace, we have a hot tub overlooking the lawn, gardens and lake. Just around the corner, the North Patio, with a 4-top, offers shade on hot days. The southern border of our home has a very private Zen garden with a natural stream and waterfall.
On the next level down, The Boathouse, with glass windows and sliders on two sides overlooks the lake and gardens. Originally a building for housing boats, this renovated space today holds a kitchenette and couches. Sliding doors in the boathouse open wide to a flagstone dining terrace with a 42” pro Lynx grill and teak table for 8, with a lush lawn just beyond. A wood deck extends from the front of the Boathouse toward the lake, where there's a fire table surrounded by outdoor furniture.
Down a few steps, the lakeside terrace is the length of a basketball court, bordered by a fenced organic vegetable garden at the far end. Guests are welcome to enjoy fresh-picked peas, beans, basil and more, depending on the season. This terrace is tiled with vintage blue dance floor tiles. We set up cornhole on the Blue Terrace in the summertime.
Our long dock gets you out into the heart of the action on the lake, and Adirondack chairs give you the ideal viewing spot for watching wake surfers dance on top of the waves. Lake Sammamish is the warmest Western Washington lake, making it ideal for swimming, and you can dive directly off the front of the dock. We have three stable kayaks for exploring, or you can bring your own boat. We have boat whips and a solar boat lift.
Half the fun of a stay at Blue Heron Lakehouse is watching wildlife. In addition to great blue herons and various waterfowl, black-capped chickadees, blue jays and other birds are drawn in by our birdfeeders and a bird bath. Our resident bald eagles regularly swoop down to pluck fish out of the lake.
When dusk arrives, the lake turns pastel hues reflecting the sunset, twinkling string lights illuminate the gardens and the fire table glows, while jasmine perfumes the air. When you’re ready to retire you’ll retreat to a quiet, luxurious suite or room.
The home’s numerous comforts include mini-splits that offer air-conditioning and heat, smart Nest thermostats and a Sonos whole-house sound system, so you can listen to your favorite tunes anywhere on the property. There is ample parking space—a rarity on the lake—with room for 2 cars in front and 6 in a private gravel upper lot, with hillside stairs leading down to the house.
Please note that we have exterior Ring cameras to protect our property and provide security to our guests.
Blue Heron Lakehouse has been in operation for more than 15 years, offering beautiful, relaxing surroundings and numerous spaces for family and friends to spread out and enjoy each others' company. Come experience the many features of this gorgeous, secluded waterfront home situated in one of the most desirable locations in the entire Seattle area and see for yourself what makes this home a true Northwest paradise.
