About this property
House in the Trees
You can feel extremely secure in My Dogwood Cabin at Deer Ridge BECAUSE there are gates onto property.
This cute undated 1970's cabin in the woods to stay at as your, Home Away from Home, is as the pictures tell. Updated yet with remnants of the Retro Vintage feel left in tack.
It is available as a nightly rental or weekly vacation home, each with its own price points and advantages.
The beauty is the location, nestled in the woods with views from indoors through over abundance of windows or, the huge wrap around porch which extends the cabin another 700 sq. feet giving you a bountiful space of nearly 2000 sq ft for your enjoyment.
Keep in mind the property does sit next the the road into the Park, which does mean there can be road noice from folks coming and going into the Park.
All linens furnished. Full Kitchen, dishwasher, range w/oven, full size refrigerator, microwave, dining room and bar with stools. All dishes and flat ware furnished. Pots and Pans and grilling utensils (even hot dog/ marshmallow sticks) provided. Heated and Air Conditioned.
This property is located one mile from the Roaring River State Park, in Missouri. Some nearby lakes include Table Rock Lake and the pristine Beaver Lake. This south western Missouri town is great for the avid fishers or those looking to kick back and relax on the nearby lakes or peaceful beaches. Eagle Rock and Big M's beaches are a little over 15 minutes away. 15 to 30 minutes of scenic driving (or further if you want to travel deeper into the Ozark Mountains) makes this destination perfect for the out door enthusiast with its wide variety of terrains and environments all within one state! Experience The Ozark Mountains at this destination, as you roam through the Mark Twain National Forest that surrounds the area . . . . AND all the places to explore right across the border into NW Arkansas. More lakes and awesome places to explore.
You can enjoy peace and serenity by the open Fire Pit, large wrap around porch or indoors in the large open living space with windows all around you you will feel like you are outdoors.
If you plan your stay in the winter months it is just as beautiful and even more serene and life slows down in this neck of the wood...the cabin has a nice fireplace to hang out next to as you sit all warm and cozy with a cup of coffee or glass of wine . . . watch all the wild life as you do so. Plenty of bird watching can be had while sitting inside. If you take a stroll down the paths through the trees you most likely would spot a deer or two, a few squirrels maybe a red fox or two, here the coyotes and birds. Yes there are black bear in the area but unless you get off deeper into the woods you will not likey encounter any.
A Water Park near by, swimming pool and water slide just down the road. Plenty of near by activities and restaurants.

I am a half native of this area called the Ozarks. My folks were from here, met here, married and moved on to live else where until they settled in Illinois, where I was born and raised. Ever since I was born this is where we came for family holidays, vacations and summers. When I was 9, in 1974, my folks build this little house I now call the Dogwood Cabin. So half my adolescents I lived in Illinois (during the school year) and half here on this property in the summers.
It was a cool place to spend my childhood summers . . . I fell in love with wild life and all it offers. City girl goes to the woods and becomes a country girl.
This beautiful wooded land I continue to call Deer Ridge. My father named it back when he acquired it in 1970, developing it into a family retreat. Now it continues as a retreat for you and others who wish to experience this small part of the Ozark Mountains.

Why they chose this property
This place holds many fond memories for me, as I spent most all summers here growing up. This is where I connected with nature, the trees, the birds, all the wild life . . . the peace and the quite. The simplistic way of spending an afternoon or evening. Back than in this area we did not have much service for TV, nor phones. We had to relay on our own imaginations and each other for entertainment.
When my folks were passing from this world, I began my dreaming of an old dream, that started in my early 20's . . . to one day have a bed and breakfast. I saw I had a reason, a way and means to finally make another dream a reality. I had a 'what to do' in this season of my life.
This property and this House among other sites I am developing here is a wonderful place for me to now call my home and my new vocation . . . hosting others as they retreat and unplug from their daily grind . . . getting back to nature and all it has to offer.
Feeling blessed I have been given a chance to come back to my childhood play ground and open it up for others.

What makes this property unique
I am not sure of the uniqueness of this property, unless you aren't use to being in the woods surrounded by trees and wild life. If you are from or live in the city, this place is very unique to you and your experiences perhaps.
I do not do much if anything to the land itself. There is no landscaping except what mother nature does. I think the beauty is in what grows and develops on its own. . . the wild flowers, native grasses if any, trees, mushrooms, ROCKS. Yes rocks LOL.. . after every rainfall there are more rocks unearthed. My father use say 'nothing grow faster or more abundantly here than ROCKS.. I keep the place as 'all natural' as I can yet maintained in a rustic sort of way.
