Cozy beach house with ocean view only 5 minute walk from Long Sands Beach. Walk to Lobster Cove Restaurant with its upper and lower deck dining and hopping bar. Cottage has upper wrap around porch deck to sit outdoors and relax in the salt air. Bathrooms on both floors. First floor small kitchen, living room with three season porch. Spiral staircase to second floor living and master bedroom and livingroom with access to upper deck. Side walks make a stroll to Long Sands beach or bike ride easy or cut through Bay View Rd and cross the quaint wooden bridge to the ocean. Head to Short Sands to visit Golden Rod Restaurant to watch the famous salt water taffy be pulled or Yorks Wild Animal Kingdom with the amusement park section that is open and walkable and the Zoo can be accessed w/tickets. Grab a drink and dinner at the deck at Stones Throw on Long Sands and drive out to the Nubble Light House to have ice cream at Dunnes. Sand Dollar and Inn on the Blues have great live entertainment. So much to do! York Beach is old school New England beach town great for families. The park at Short Sands has slides, swings, slides and a gazebo with weekly free night concerts. Bowlarama has old school arcades and candlepin bowling. Get some fudge at Sweet Josie's and buy some cool York jewelry at Bill-n-Bobs or more upscale beachwear at Wheat Boutique. Take a ride out to Oqunquit for a faster night life scene or to see a show at the Playhouse. Perfect for a family of 4 or 2 couples who want their privacy. Sleep a few extra on the futon on pull out couch. Sleeps up to 6 if you use the both the pull out couch downstairs & fouton to sleep 2, otherwise there are 2 twin beds downstairs and one queen bed upstairs that sleeps 4 total. Note spiral staircase can be tricky to navigate for toddlers, elderly or folks with mobility issues-- also large suitcases are tough to manage to the second floor. This is a really cute place that has a great location with tons of fun stuff to do!

Clean, functional and unique. We really enjoyed ourselves. We took our bikes and used them to get back and forth to the beach; I would take the chairs and cooler in the car with the kids, drop them off and bike back. Worked out great.
Very classic feeling beach house. We loved the deck that wraps the second floor for morning coffees and night time cocktails. It was very quiet and peaceful which was very important to us. The 2 bathrooms is a huge plus and the kitchen had everything we needed. There was plenty of space for my family and i would certainly recommend this house to anyone looking for a great vacation in the York Beach area.
We are from Illinois and this was our second family vacation to Maine. There was plenty of room for three adults. The location is great! An easy walk to one of our favorite restaurants, Lobster Cove, as well as the beach! The owners were very accommodating with responses to questions leading up to our stay. A check in sheet was provided that included everything we needed to know to make our stay comfortable. The house was clean, decorated nicely, and we loved the balcony. A full kitchen provided us the opportunity to make breakfast each morning before heading out for a day of fun! Two bathrooms and window A/C units are also great to have with a rental. Parking is available and there are many close places to drive to for shopping, dining, and exploring Maine!
The house was quiet and peaceful on a quiet road within walking distance to York Beach. The beds were comfortable. Check in was easy. On July 4th all up and down York Beach people were lighting off fireworks. It was beautiful. The house is close to Portsmouth, N.H. so we spent a couple of days visiting that beautiful city. It was a lovely way to spend our vacation.

Cute beach cottage in need of TLC
Cute beach-themed cottage with close proximity to the beach. While the location was central and the cottage itself charming, we did encounter a few issues. During our stay, we noticed the presence of several mice and an ant mound in the cottage, which required some extra cleaning on our part.

Clean?
First waking in it looks clean at a glance. There were spiders and cobwebs in every corner of the house. I wiped them out of the bathrooms each day so as not to take showers with spiders and ants. Cobwebs were everywhere all up the stairs and throughout the house. Aunts were crawling on the walls and on us as we sat down and slept. Stains on the carpet were throughout the house too. We had to supply towel and sheets for the three beds. Who travels with bedding? It's probably a good thing as the blankets were so badly stained, yellow and brown spots that our kids refused to use them. The pillow that I was to use had so many stains on it i slept without one. The place needs a major cleaning. To be honest we didn't even want to eat there because of all the spiders and ants. Every night we searched the walls, ceiling and beds to eliminate spiders and ants before we went to bed. I still woke up with ants anyway. Did not expect a five-star place, but it should have been cleaned better.

Nice location
The location was great. The whole house wasn't easily accessible.
The spiral staircase to the second floor was not very convenient and we ended up using only the first floor. Two twin beds, sleeping separately.
Private, quiet cozy beach cottage that oozes with charm. Short walk to least crowded end of the beach. We fell in love with the area and would not hesitate to stay here again! Only negative is that we had no cell service (Verizon & AT&T) at the house or York Beach ...which maybe normal for the area. We just drove to the main road near grocer Hannaford for service. House does have WIFI.
We had a wonderful time at this property - everything about it suited our needs. Great communication with the hosts throughout. Good location - for the beach - and the AC during a few hot days was a lifesaver!
We had a wonderful week at this cute little beach house. It’s a easy walk to the ocean and the owner was very helpful. She gave us lots of good tips on things to do in the area. I would definitely like to come back some day. 😊
My daughter and family said they loved the cottage. It was off the main road yet quite close to long sands. Everything g but the refrig upstairs worked out well. It was a bonus to have the air conditioning during such a hot spell.
We really enjoyed our stay at this home. It is very small so more than 4, even though there is sleeping for 6, would be far too crowded. There are sweet beach touches around the house, the washer/dryer was very handy, the porch is sweet, the location perfect for walking to beach and short drives to any where. Considering our current virus situation, I was a little disappointed in the overall cleanliness of the house but maybe I am being overly-sensitive to that. There was some food left in the sink and not all the surfaces were clean. As the week went on, we noticed that it seemed that deep cleaning hadn't been done in a while, including the rug upstairs. In a different time, it may not have mattered as much to us but given today's environment we were a little disappointed in that aspect. Overall, it was a very nice experience and we enjoyed staying there. The owners were very responsive to my emails while setting up the trip. Very quiet neighborhood. As an aside, the cell reception was terrible but that is not in any way the owners fault, the cable TV and wifi worked great.
House was just what we were looking for to spend July 4th week up at York. The house was very clean and it was a huge benefit to have a small washer and dryer to use through out are stay. Nicole was very helpful from the time we booked to accidentally breaking the dining room table. ( Sorry again!). I would recommend this house if your kids are teenagers. (Only because of the spiral staircase).
.
This is our family's beach cottage-- we have been coming to York Beach for years and absolutely love it here (plan to retire here and do the snow bird thing someday!). York is such a fun place and we are very active people with kids that like to surf, bike, skateboard, and hike with us! We also very much enjoy doing the races in York in the summer-- specifically the 4 on the 4th Race and York Days race in August, so if you are a runner/jogger/walker, sign up for those if you choose to stay!
If you play the tides right Lobster Cove beach is very uncrowded and a beautiful place to chill. If you like a busier beach with more folks to see and lifeguards on duty, Long Sands is just down the road.
Enjoy it, we definitely do!
Nicole (& Dan & kids)
Why they chose this property
It is affordable weekly-- why stay at a hotel when you can have a whole house?! It is quaint and in a great location to walk, bike, or take the trolley into town.
What makes this property unique
The two floors with a bathroom and shower and flat screen tv on each floor lends itself nicely to providing the perfect privacy while maintaining togetherness-- kids or inlaws downstairs with the master bedroom upstairs with the deck.
