Come and enjoy our lovely home in Cape Fear Station, located a few minutes away from the beach and the Shoals Club. Relax and enjoy the outdoors on one of two screen porches. Soak in the peacefulness of this home nestled among beautiful trees.
Enter through a comfortable living room where you can enjoy a movie on the large screen tv, play some games provided with the home, or just sit and relax. The eat in kitchen includes a table that comfortably seats 7, with a quaint built in bench. The kitchen is well-stocked with stainless steel appliances and everything you need to cook meals after a day at the beach. If you prefer to dine outside, enjoy your dinner or a glass of wine and hors d'oeuvres on the screened in porch.
Upstairs are two generous bedrooms, each with a private bath. One bedroom offers a king bed and the other bedroom, two twins and a trundle. Guests can enjoy the privacy of the detached crofter which includes a queen bed and full bath.
As you come in from the beach, shower off in the outdoor shower, which our kids especially love!
We also offer wifi, two 4pass golf carts, a propane grill, kayaks, beach chairs. Temporary membership to the Shoals Club, a quick golf cart ride away, is also available for purchase.

Perfect cozy stay

We loved everything about this home. It was perfect for two adults and one child but there was plenty of room for additional people. Kitchen is incredibly well appointed. We spent lots of time on the screened in porch and loved puttering around on the golf carts that is included.

Great fit for our family of 5 plus grandparents. Clean, comfortable accommodations. Close to Shoals Club. Nice golf carts for everyone. There were actually several bikes, so we didn't need to rent bikes.

Anniversary weekend

We absolutely loved this sweet cottage and our stay there to celebrate our anniversary! Well appointed and so clean and comfortable. Great location close to the beach and very quiet neighborhood. We’ve been coming to BHI for 20 years and never get tired of returning for a quiet getaway. Would definitely stay here again. One note to think about visiting in January, none of the restaurants were open so that was a challenge, but the house has a nice kitchen and we didn’t mind cooking food we bought from the market and taking the ferry over to Southport for the day is easy enough to do! Thanks for a great stay!

delightful stay

An excellent spot with a well-stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, privacy etc. The front and back porches were ideal for morning and evening relaxation. Note that one of the bedrooms, above the garage, is in a separate building. I had not noticed this in the listing (though I admit I was in a rush when I read it). It was a great place for our small family of 4. easy enough to get to the market but close enough to middle island proper to feel wonderfully removed. would definitely stay again. NB1 : the house has a conventional drip coffee maker *in addition to* a keurig (the listing only mentions the latter) NB2: there was a house being built on one of the adjacent properties. this wasn't really an issue as we weren't at the house during the workday, but we heard some hammering in the morning. just fair warning to those who are in search of total silence.

Absolutely love BHI and had a great trip, and overall the rental was good, but there were some cons with the rental that kept it from getting 5 stars: 1) biggest concern was that the doors wouldn't lock. There's a note about having to lift the door/handle and try that way, which we did, but we figured out the actual construction of the knobs keeps the latch from fully extending...so it was literally impossible to lock. The good news is that BHI feels extremely safe, so it wasn't a huge concern...but would be anywhere else! 2) I had called the rental company prior to the trip and they agreed to an early check in. But when we arrived, the cleaning service had just arrived and we weren't able to get into the house until the standard 4pm time. 3) Outside trash was left from the prior renters. Our stay didn't overlap trash day, which we understood, but it's still kind of off-putting to have overstuffed trash bins with someone else's garbage when you're paying as much as you are. 4) The kitchen has most cooking utensils, but is missing key things like salt. It'd be nice if someone was checking a 'standard inventory' list to make sure the basics were there. 5) It was very cold/windy when we were there and it'd be nice if the golf carts had plastic coverings to help shield the wind like other rentals we've stayed at do. Not a huge issue at all, and the carts worked well, just would've been nice to have. Loved the trip and will absolutely come back to BHI, but will likely look for another place to rent.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed the island. We are on island 24/7 and would have been more than happy to come over to show how to work the door locks at the home as well as pick up any excess trash. They are hurricane proof locks so they can be tough but they do work correctly :) We can never guarantee early check in but we do let guests know that they can drop their luggage and take the golf cart if the home is not ready for arrival. We want to make sure the home is perfect for your stay. We do not require salt or golf cart covers with our homes. The covers are very hard to upkeep and we see them mostly to be lost or damaged as they can be hard to use. We wish we could have done more to make your stay more comfortable if we had known while you were here. We hope you can come back and stay on BHI again.

Needs A LOT of Work

First off- The queen room was basically unusable-we thought it would be really cool as it was a small separate house. As the mold and mildew smell from the leak was unbearable...There was an air humidifier running full blast but it did nothing for the smell. There was a huge sign on top of it that stated "Do Not Turn It Off". This should of been communicated to us-as I am very sensitive to mold and my son has asthma. We basically did not even touch the extra room the entire stay. Second- We had a baby with us who slept in the twin room upstairs- The ceiling squeaks when someone walks into that room....which was loud and annoying the entire stay. Which made it hard to get our baby to sleep...Anyone in the downstairs and upstairs heard it as it was really.....loud. Third- This house needs a lot of work--I have no idea who left the 5 star reviews...we would not have stayed here knowing these things beforehand-As we paid for a 3 bedroom and could only barely use 2 of those. I communicated these problems to the manager when we left and were told that "there was nothing they could do". She stated that we should of told them during the stay and that they would "check on them". We requested our money back or at least half as we couldn't use the 3rd room and she told us they would not do that. I can not imagine that a rental company that is over a property has "no idea" these items need attention. Who wrote the note then in the extra queen room? We have stayed at Bald Head for many years and have NEVER had any issues as we trust reviews on properties that are posted. So if you have ANY issues during your stay at the properties they manage-contact them immediately when you are there-otherwise they WILL NOT HELP YOU!

Thank you for your review and we apologize for your troubles. The dehumidifier is in the crofter to ensure the room is properly conditioned given BHI is a very humid environment. The sign is placed to ensure the settings aren't changed to allow the dehumidifier to work properly. The crofter has been reviewed and there is no evidence of mold and there is no leak. It is unfortunate that contact was made after your departure as we are on island full time with a maintenance staff to address any issues or concerns you may have had. Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do without knowing you had problems during your stay. We do share our contact information before your arrival and have several places in the home with our numbers as well as an emergency line for after hour needs and would have been more than happy to help! We strive to keep all of our renters happy and comfortable. Thank you

We didn’t know the third bedroom was in a separate house, but it wasn’t a big deal. Otherwise clean, nice place. The toilet did not work in the twin bedroom-bathroom but we let them know and they stated maintenance would be out the following day. Again, not a big deal. Probably wouldn’t have paid as much as I did for it, but we love the island and come every year, so it wasn’t a huge problem.

Quite Getaway

609 Kinnakeet Way was the perfect getaway. Not far from the beach, or the hustle and bussel of the island. We really enjoyed having a full kitchen, outside seating area, and convince of golf carts on property.

Perfect for a relaxing weekend

The house was very clean and well kept. The kitchen had plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc. Pantry staples were minimal and they keep the fridge empty so make sure to bring anything you need to cook. The location was perfect to get to both East and South beaches. We enjoyed the bikes as well.
