About this property

Retro 50's charm with modern amenities.

This charming 1 bedroom is located just 1 block from Resurrection Bay and the Sea Life Center and 1 street over from downtown shops and restaurants. One of Sewards oldest buildings and originally a boarding house from the old railroad days, come stay and be part of Sewards history. Speaking of history, we are right behind the museum/library. This rental has been totally renovated but we kept some of the old charm. Kitchen has single hot plate burner, convection oven, microwave and refrigerator. Also 1 bedroom, bathroom and living space. We are quiet building and observe quiet hours. We have local residents who also live in the building. We provide employment opportunity for a local resident with your cleaning fee. Parking is free in the front of the building. Great walking path 1 block away that leads to the small boat harbor 1 mile away. This property is not very well suited for 4 adults. Best for 2 adults and 2 small children or less.

Loved it ❤️
We loved our 2 night stay here. It was so comfortable and cozy. The bed was awesome 😎 as was the pull out couch (with extra mattress on top)!! We had everything we needed for the 2 nights. Very quaint and charming. Would definitely stay again.

Its a extremely nice place to stay. The hosts where responsive and helpful. Building is older but you can tell they take pride in it and have/are updating it. Everything was clean. Kitchen has everything you need to make simple meals. Definitely a great little place to stay.

Unwind after 7 day cruise
My husband and I decided to stay in Seward for a couple of days after our cruise to just relax. The unit was just as described, bathroom was fully stocked. Very comfortable bed and plenty of pillows. Location was ideal to walking around the quiet little town. We used the toaster oven to cook a pizza since we decided to stay in one night. Only thing I wish unit had was a microwave to pop some pop corn but other than that the unit was perfect. Hopefully we can come back for a longer stay.

Cute apartment
This apartment is really cute and decorated with love. From a guest‘s point of view it would be of advantage to have more space and less decor. Eg in the bathroom and in the kitchen one could use one wall for boards instead of decor. That would make the apartment more flexible for the guests who bring a lot of staff with them. But still this apartment is clean, lovely and cute. We would definitely come back.

Love Alaska and the great outdoors. We have wonderful friends in Seward and decided to become a part of this amazing community. Matt and I re both from the Midwest - MN and IA. We met in Denver and moved to Alaska in 2002. We absolutely love traveling and being hosts, mostly to share stories and adventures. When we get a chance to talk with our guests, it renews our love for our home and community. We are so blessed. We want to share this blessing with everyone.

Why they chose this property

Because it’s part of Alaska History. it is one of the oldest buildings in Seward and we loved the history and the possibilities to bring it back to life. We have worked hard to provide a nice clean quaint and quiet place to stay. We have local residents in the building who you may run into out and about. Some are born and raised in Seward!!

What makes this property unique

So close to everything! this building was origianlly a boarding house for railroad workers and others in the early 1900's and survived the 1964 earthquake and tsunami. This property is very unique. It is one of Seward's oldest buildings build in either 1905 or 1906. It was a boarding house to the railroad workers in the early 1900's. It survived the 1964 earthquake tsunami. In 2017, we bought this run down virtually empty building and spent every weekend for 6 years coming down from Anchorage and renovating the entire place. Just my husband and I. We have finally moved to Seward and love this amazing community. We hope you love what we have done to restore history.
