Hey! You’ve made it to The Phoenix Rising, where you will awake to 360-degree panoramic mountain and lake views while up in the clouds! Sounds awesome, right? But, please read the description in its entirety to ensure this special and unique place is for you!
The Phoenix Rising is an amazing three-story cabin that was mirrored after a fire tower. Because of its location, not only will you avoid extra town taxes and fees upon booking, but The Phoenix Rising also provides an incredible retreat from hustle and bustle of the big city. You get the best of both worlds! There are large picture windows on every wall so you can relax while taking in the 360-degree views and natural light. The deck on the second story has an outdoor living and dining space with a Weber propane grill for outdoor meals to take in the forest's beauty.
On the second story, you will find the indoor kitchen / dining area with seating for five as well as a full-sized futon for two. Going up to the third story, you will be amazed when you set eyes on the master bedroom suite, surrounded by windows with plenty of window seating to read a book while you take in the panoramic views. A wrap-around deck can be accessed from the master bedroom for even more breathtaking scenery of the Ouachita National Forest, Kiamichi Mountains and fog rolling over Broken Bow Lake.
Item of Note: The steps on this property provide a unique charm, though they may be steep for some. If stairs aren't your preference, you might want to explore our 2-bedroom cabin, The Summit House, which is all on one level, accommodates up to 5 guests and also provides breathtaking views.
The Phoenix Rising is entirely off-grid. We produce our own power, water (well), hot water and have our own septic system. We are 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home! Because we are green; however, we do have to choose which luxuries we would like to have. In our efforts to conserve energy, we have decided to opt out of bath and hot tubs in all of our mountain cabins. We also have have a filter, but the well water has iron in it, so please bring bottled water if this makes you uncomfortable.
→ Bedroom 1: King master with two Twin beds that double as window seating in bedroom on third story
→ Bedroom 2: Full futon for two in living area on second story
→ Bathroom 1: Private half-bath connected to master on third story
→ Bathroom 2: Full bathroom with walk-in shower downstairs
🚨 We realize that this is where most like to stop reading, but we ask that you please scroll a little more to review the important information for the drive in and more! 🚨
►✨ DRIVE IN / ACCESS ✨
The mountain cabins sit 5 miles off of Highway 259 and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. It’s a beautiful drive and we oftentimes see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls!
You will need a vehicle with some clearance as well as a bit of driving skill to make it in. 4WD and/or AWD is NOT necessary, but helpful.
► We strongly suggest:
→ a small, medium or large SUV
→ any size truck
→ a crossover
► We strongly advise against:
→ a minivan
→ a sedan or coupe
The first 2 miles of the drive are easy and you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles are slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. The roads are rocky and bumpy, but will not ever be muddy.
There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads. This means you will travel up the mountain until you have reached our mountain top.
Don't have a vehicle that meets the requirements, but still want to visit? We have partnered with Marc at Red Dirt Car Service and have several happy guests that have already used this transportation service! Please send an inquiry for more information.
►✨ TECHNOLOGY & CELL SERVICE ✨
The Phoenix Rising now has AT&T Internet and there is cell phone service! Verizon and AT&T work best, while Sprint and T-Mobile are limited. There are no TVs or cable. You will need to bring your own entertainment and pre-download your movies on your own device before arriving.
Disclaimer:Bear Creek Vacations is not responsible for reliability of internet or outages from service provider. WiFi is provided as a convenience only and is not integral to the use the property. No refund of payments shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use or personal preference regarding services.
►✨ BOATS, TRAILERS & ATVs, oh my! ✨
→ Boats & Trailers: Please do not try to bring a boat up to any of our cabins on the mountain! You will likely regret it, we promise! 😉 All jokes aside, Beavers Bend Marina has slips that you can rent for your stay and it’s super convenient to leave your boat in the water. They can also provide a place to leave your trailer!
→ ATVs: You can ride straight into the Ouachita National Forest from our property! Please check with the US Forest Service for all laws regarding ATV riding. It’s possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines.
Bear Creek Vacations will not be held responsible for any tickets, violations or accidents.
►✨ GRILL & FIRE ✨
The grill is not directly wired into the house and we will provide propane. There is a fire pit. Please bring matches. Our cleaning service no longer provides firewood.
►✨ MAX OCCUPANCY ✨
The Phoenix Rising sleeps 5. Due to fire marshal regulations and insurance purposes, the number of guests per cabin is strictly enforced. Additionally, our off-grid systems cannot sustain more than the max number of guests.
►✨ PUP-FRIENDLY ✨
Maximum of 2 dogs allowed. No cats. Pet Fee: $150 per stay. Please review house rules and pet policy prior to bringing your pets to avoid additional charges.

Hosted by Debbie

Andy and I have a passion for travel and adventure, exploring incredible destinations like Canada, Mexico, Hawaii, and countless places across the United States. Our journey led us to discover the charm of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, in 2007 when we first began boating and ATVing in the area. We instantly fell in love with its natural beauty and tranquility.
In April 2012, our dream of owning land within the National Forest became a reality. Shortly after, we started building our first cabin, marking the beginning of Bear Creek Vacations. Creating these spaces was not just a personal milestone—it was a way for us to share the magic of Broken Bow with others.
We invite you to experience Bear Creek Vacations for yourself. Whether you're looking to relax, rejuvenate, or simply escape, you'll leave feeling refreshed and grateful you visited. Feel free to reach out with any questions—we’re here to help make your stay unforgettable.

Why they chose this property
The Phoenix Rising holds a deep personal meaning for our family, symbolizing resilience, renewal, and the beauty that emerges from life’s challenges. In 2017, the Salazar-Smith family experienced a year filled with ups and downs, from the near loss of a beloved family member to the joyous birth of a grandson. These moments, along with other struggles, taught us the strength to rise above adversity.
As the legend of the Phoenix tells us, when she resurrects from the flames, she is even more beautiful than before. This property is our testament to that belief—a place of renewal, peace, and beauty where guests can find their own moments of joy and serenity.
Nestled in the heart of the Ouachita National Forest, The Phoenix Rising offers breathtaking 360-degree views of lush forests and mountain peaks. Surrounded by the tranquility of nature, this cabin provides a serene escape from the hustle of daily life. Whether you’re enjoying a sunrise from the deck, hiking nearby trails, or simply soaking in the stillness of the forest, this property is designed to reconnect you with nature and inspire a sense of renewal and peace.
The Phoenix Rising is not just a cabin; it’s a sanctuary where the beauty of the natural world and the promise of new beginnings come together to create a truly unforgettable experience.
