Hey! You’ve made it to The Summit House! (PSST - this cabin is my personal favorite of the four on our mountain! Ashley - Property Manager) Here you can escape the crowds and relax in this 1,100 square foot cabin, situated on the summit of a ridge line, deep in the US National Forest. There are breathtaking views from every single room, including the shower! At night, the skies are great for stargazing and counting the shooting stars. 💫 Sounds awesome, right? But, please read the description in its entirety to ensure this special and unique place is for you!

Because of its location, not only will you avoid extra town taxes and fees upon booking, but The Summit House also provides an incredible retreat from hustle and bustle of the big city. You get the best of both worlds! Gorgeous views bring relaxation from the spacious King master bedroom as well as the second Queen bedroom. The large, open living/dining area offers a space for quality time with friends and family while enjoying a fresh beverage. A beautiful bar off the kitchen will seat five where you can enjoy a meal cooked in the all stainless steel kitchen or the outdoor propane grill. If you prefer meals outside, there will be furniture on on the 2-level deck so you can take in the views. There is something to do for everyone from the adventurous hiker to the avid bird watcher or even the bookworm. Come relax at The Summit House for your next getaway!

The Summit House is entirely off-grid. We produce our own power, water (well), hot water and have our own septic system. We are 100% green and still have all the luxuries of home! Because we are green; however, we do have to choose which luxuries we would like to have. In our efforts to conserve energy, we have decided to opt out of bath and hot tubs in all of our mountain cabins. We also have have a filter, but the well water has iron in it, so please bring bottled water if this makes you uncomfortable.

Bedroom 1: King master bedroom with sliding door leading to deck
Bedroom 2: Queen bedroom on opposite side of master with a Twin futon located outside the bedroom
Bathroom 1: Full bathroom with walk-in shower

🚨 We realize that this is where most like to stop reading, but we ask that you please scroll a little more to review the important information for the drive in and more! 🚨

►✨ DRIVE IN / ACCESS
The mountain cabins sit 5 miles off of Highway 259 and is accessed by US Forest Service roads. It’s a beautiful drive and we oftentimes see white tail deer, turkey, and birds of prey including red tail hawks and various owls!

You will need a vehicle with some clearance as well as a bit of driving skill to make it in. 4WD and/or AWD is NOT necessary, but helpful.

► We strongly suggest:
→ a small, medium or large SUV
→ any size truck
→ a crossover
► We strongly advise against:
→ a minivan
→ a sedan or coupe

The first 2 miles of the drive are easy and you can drive 25 mph. The remaining 3 miles are slower and requires some attention. You will cross 4 or 5 small creeks on the way in. Water is rarely more than 4 inches deep. The roads are rocky and bumpy, but will not ever be muddy.

There are also grades up to 12% on gravel roads. This means you will travel up the mountain until you have reached our mountain top.

Don't have a vehicle that meets the requirements, but still want to visit? We have partnered with Marc at Red Dirt Car Service and have several happy guests that have already used this transportation service! Please send an inquiry for more information.

►✨ TECHNOLOGY & CELL SERVICE
The Summit House now has Starlink and there is cell phone service! Verizon and AT&T work best, while Sprint and T-Mobile are limited. There are no TVs or cable. You will need to bring your own entertainment and pre-download your movies on your own device before arriving.
Disclaimer: Bear Creek Vacations is not responsible for reliability of internet or outages from service provider. WiFi is provided as a convenience only and is not integral to the use the property. No refund of payments shall be given for outages, content, lack of content, speed, access problems, lack of knowledge of use or personal preference regarding services.

►✨ BOATS, TRAILERS & ATVs, oh my!
Boats & Trailers: Please do not try to bring a boat up to any of our cabins on the mountain! You will likely regret it, we promise! 😉 All jokes aside, Beavers Bend Marina has slips that you can rent for your stay and it’s super convenient to leave your boat in the water. They can also provide a place to leave your trailer!
ATVs: You can ride straight into the Ouachita National Forest from our property! Please check with the US Forest Service for all laws regarding ATV riding. It’s possible for a group of riders to rack up several thousand dollars in fines.
Bear Creek Vacations will not be held responsible for any tickets, violations or accidents.

►✨ GRILL & FIRE
The grill is propane and directly wired into the house. Instead of a propane tank, you will see a timer. There is a fire pit. Please bring matches. Our cleaning service no longer provides firewood.

►✨ MAX OCCUPANCY
The Summit House sleeps 5. Due to fire marshal regulations and insurance purposes, the number of guests per cabin is strictly enforced. Additionally, our off-grid systems cannot sustain more than the max number of guests.

►✨ PUP-FRIENDLY
Maximum of 2 dogs allowed. No cats. Pet Fee: $150 per stay. Please review house rules and pet policy prior to bringing your pets to avoid additional charges.

This vacation was nothing short of extraordinary. My husband and I sought a romantic getaway, and we found the perfect escape. The panoramic views were simply breathtaking, with rolling mountains bathed in vibrant hues that changed with the light. The exhilarating drive up the winding mountain roads added to the adventure, offering us glimpses of nature's beauty, including graceful deer grazing peacefully and majestic falcons soaring overhead. One of the highlights of our trip was the time we spent sightseeing from a jet ski. Gliding over the sparkling water, we felt the refreshing breeze against our faces as we explored the stunning coastline. The experience was exhilarating, and I can't recommend it enough!
The night sky that just seems unreal.

Exactly as depicted!

Relaxation, seclusion, privacy, and immaculate views is exactly what we were looking for and precisely what we got! Couldn’t have asked for a better getaway from the hustle and bustle of Dallas! Our only hiccup was one of the A/C units was not working to it’s potential - we were able to communicate with the property manager and they promptly got it fixed for us and the rest of our stay was fabulous. NOTE: if you plan to bring pets and go out hiking—the paths are rather rocky and is hard on their paws for longer distances.

Great Stay - Make Sure You Read Everything

When we first arrived, we could tell the place was well cleaned. The drive up for us was lots of fun! Then the view on the patio was great. I am very happy we read the guide ahead of time. There is a lot there, but there is a reason for nearly everything. Even when I was not sure about something, I was able to reach the owners easily.

Surprise proposal 💍

Let me start off by saying that the views are absolutely amazing. Getting out of the city and being able to disconnected was exactly what we needed. My fiancé and I booked this cabin back in October when we were just dating and little did I know that I would be getting proposed to up in the summit house. So thank you so much for helping make that moment so special We did have a bit of car problems while up there but Ashley and her team did respond right away to my messages and definitely helped get us the help me needed. Looking forward to booking the Phoenix house next

Rent It For The View

My family and I dearly enjoyed our stay at The Summit House. The view is indeed the best it could be. The cherry on top was the large black bear that came up to the back porch and looked around! My son was the only one here when the bear visited, but he got excellent footage an we were giddy about it all weekend! Definitely recommend, although in the future i would come only when the air conditioners aren't needed. The only small downside to the cabin is the generator runs at sunrise and sunset, dampening an otherwise perfect scene. I would love to stay here and never kick the generator on! Recommend with reservations in the hottest part of summer, fully recommend in fairer or cold weather!

**THE VIEWS**

It's pretty much like a postcard! It's just what we needed. Relaxing, tranquility at it's best. Very clean, and very remote. Just you and God's creation. Definitely will be coming back. Beavers Bend Lake is a must see, even just to drive through it. The drive up the last 1/2 mile is a little nerve racking. I drive an SUV, front wheel drive. You have to get it on it and don't slow down. Our main concern is what if we met someone coming out. But when we pulled up to the cabin, we knew it was worth it, so worth it...

The View!

The house is 20 minutes off the hwy, secluded at the top of the mountain. So the view is breathtaking. Sunrise is off the spacious back patio and that makes mornings radiant and peaceful. The horizon is miles of layers of mountains so the topography and green textures with the lake below are awesome! The house is clean and well stocked with a grill, fire pit, leather furniture and a cool butcher block island table. We saw deer and other wildlife, and the property is gated (for the four houses on the property, so no concern of strangers. We hardly even noticed the other guests at the other houses. It’s solar powered, septic and well water with just enough wi-fi to map your adventures, look up places to explore or eat, and check e-mail if you want. It has a great walk in shower with a view of the mountains for those 6’ and taller. We will definitely be staying there again!

Extremely Disappointed

My family and I selected this property for our vacation because it was listed under the “family friendly” section but when we arrived it was abundantly clear that the property was anything but that. The doors to the back deck don’t have locks on them. Instead they are kept shut by a 2x4. This is not unsafe but also a fire hazard. When I brought this up to the host, they acted like it wasn’t a big deal. The property was also unclean when we arrived. Finally, the road to access the property is much more dangerous than the description provided. The hills are much steeper than described by the host. My family and I felt so unsafe at this property after a disastrous first night that we paid to stay in a different location for the final two nights of the trip. We would recommend this property to anyone. I’ve attempted to get a refund from the host but they refuse to grant anything.

The Summit

The area is beautiful and the view is breathtaking! The inside of the cabin was wonderful. Everything was so nice and clean. The master bedroom over looks the downside of the mountain and at the bottom is a lake. We never turned the TV on! The same view can be seen from the kitchen, patio and the second bedroom! There are books and games to keep you occupied while you are relaxing. Also, there are plenty of condiments and necessities If you forget something. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, plates, cups and an assortment or other cooking items. From the highway there is about a 5.5 mile drive to the cabin. I suggest to not drive in the dark and take it slow. An SUV or a truck would be the best bet since it is a little rough. It is very scenic and worth the drive to the cabin. Andy and Debbie were wonderful hosts! If I had a question, they responded very quickly and were very nice. Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful cabin. I recommend The Summit for anyone who loves an amazing view and just wants to get away for a relaxing time! Thank you Bryan & Maritza Willard

A Scorching Stay at Andy's Inferno Cabin

The stunning view of Broken Bow from the cabin is breathtaking. However, the cabin itself was quite uncomfortable. When we arrived, it was extremely hot inside, with the air conditioning unit being almost as old as a fossil, and barely effective. We tried to mitigate this by purchasing a window unit, but it was not enough. When we contacted the owner, Andy, about the unbearable heat, he suggested that we were exaggerating the situation or lying, as the previous tenants had no issues. His dismissive attitude was quite unsettling. Moreover, he blamed us for the malfunctioning AC, implying we didn't understand how to use it properly. His behavior felt like gaslighting, making us feel responsible for the non-functioning AC. Even when he arrived with a temperature reader, he held it too close to the vent, measuring a misleading cool temperature. The cabin, with no curtains, was baking hot. Despite admitting the cabin was very hot, Andy refused to invest in a better air conditioner. He agreed to refund us, but then proceeded to nickel and dime us over any dog hair they could find, although the cabin was advertised as dog-friendly. He also falsely claimed we brought an extra dog to charge us more. We were so preoccupied with the air conditioning issue that we didn't even mention the fridge and freezer were not cooling our food. In short, if you want a comfortable, pet-friendly cabin with a respectful owner, avoid this place. Andy's handling of our experience was disappointing.
