Welcome to the Dune Cottage with incredible views of Lake Michigan and the Beaver Island archipelago. Facing west into every sunset, this fully renovated 3-story cottage was built into the dunes at a time that current regulations prevent. All you see from the large deck is a 230-degree panoramic view of Lake Michigan. We have a private beach, and a 100-yard walk away gives access to 3 miles of unspoiled, remote, protected, undeveloped land!
The cottage includes a new kitchen, appliances, three new bathrooms, lighting, furniture, flooring, and decor. Four bedrooms are spacious enough to host up to 10 guests comfortably. Nestled inside Fisherman's Island State Park, it allows access to 2800 acres of protected land for hiking and hunting in season.
The Dune Cottage is conveniently located just 12 minutes from downtown Charlevoix. Charlevoix boasts a vibrant marina and East Park, unique restaurants, shopping, and a farmers market. There is no better location in Charlevoix. There are many golf course options within a short distance from the cottage. Snow skiing in the winter months is easily accessible as well.
We have been in the weekly rental business for 2 decades and always enjoy sharing our lovely properties with our guests.

Good for our girls weekend trip. The sandy beach in front of the home is not the beach that belongs to this property. Their beach is rocky or you can walk 100 yards to a sandy beach. There were a lot of great shells we found on our walk.
Absolutely loved our stay at the Dune Cottage. The lake views are even better than the photos— we woke up to the water every morning and ended every night watching the sunset over Lake Michigan, which never got old.The house itself was just as great. Spacious, clean, and thoughtfully set up with everything we needed. It struck the right balance of comfortable and well-appointed, and it was clear that Anne and her family take good care of it. Plenty of room to spread out and relax after a day on the course / by the water.Zero complaints. Check-in was smooth and the whole place lived up to expectations. We’d happily book again and recommend it to anyone looking for a lakefront getaway. Thanks for a perfect week!

We are so happy that you enjoyed Dune Cottage and made some family memories.
The property was just as the listing describes, but the views were beyond description. Our family really enjoyed staying at Dune Cottage. We would definitely stay there again next time we are in the area.
Incredible spot. Cute coastal cottage right on the beach! The views couldn’t be better! We were there for a girls weekend and would absolutely go again!
What a wonderful place .my husband and I just wanted a little getaway . the view of lake michigan was amazing. The sunsets too😳.Would definitely stay again.
Dune Cottage is a special place. Comfortable, cozy. Great Location! Stayed 2 years in a row. Would come again. My granddaughters loved the beach for play, walks and the sunset. Great family time.
Dune cottage is comfortable, clean and inviting. It’s attractively decorated without being too fancy, making for a home-like experience.
It’s centrally located for 69-90 minute drives to some of upper Michigan’s premier attractions. The two separate living spaces are great for family activities when a age range is present.

Be well friends!
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Dune Cottage. We loved walking the beach and taking in stunning sunsets every evening. The home is well equipped and comfortable. Lake Michigan and the surrounding dunes are in full view from inside the house and on the lovely deck. Highly recommended!
I'd give it 10 stars if I could. Sunsets were phenomenal.
Charlevoix was only a short drive away when you wanted to go there but the best part was being on the Lake Michigan shore and having our part of the lake all to ourselves. Great for the little grandkids as well as for all of the adults. Everyone wants to go back. Owner's response time for our questions was great.
Wonderful property, surroundings, hosts, ambience and environment. Everything was as depicted in the literature and we had a marvelous vacation escape from the noise, clatter and rush of our normal lives. The experience of becoming close to the pristine connection of land a lake were such a refreshing change of pace for us. We loved it!

We really enjoyed our stay at Dune Cottage. The neighborhood is a quiet and serene little spot, secluded in the middle of Fisherman Island State Park. We hardly saw another person while we were here. The beaches are really nice and there are miles of secluded shoreline due to the state park backing up to this property. The 3-story cottage was large enough for 9 people. The house was fairly well stocked and was updated enough to make our stay very comfortable.

We stayed here in early June of 2022. The house was great. The owners have updated the house and it was very comfortable. We spent alot of time on the deck admiring the views and walking the beach and dunes. Fields called us on the way and gave use some tips about the house and the area. He was quick to respond to our questions. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
We had a wonderful time in Charlevoix and specially at Dune cottage! Was a great location with great views!! Loved looking over Lake Michigan and seeing all the different boats! The kids and I had lovely walks each evening - they said they had never been anywhere where it smelled like Pine so much! Found some Petoskey stones… and while we felt like we were by ourselves had a short drive to get to Charlevoix! The property manager was very responsive and kind! We would stay again!!
would stay low
We found this cottage for our 9th annual girls weekend for our group of 7. We were not disappointed! The pictures online don't do it justice, the views were amazing and the house was beautiful. We had plenty of room and the house was very clean. We loved exploring Charlevoix, we checked out the mushroom houses, the castle and the cute downtown area. As much as we loved the town it was great to return to the privacy of our house each day, it felt like we were the only ones out there. Thank you for a great stay!!
We spent a great 4th of July week here, beautiful views and excellent location. There were 9 of us (6 adults, 3 kids under 10), and there was more than enough room for us to spread out, with the 4 bedrooms, 2 1/2 bathrooms, and 2 living areas. The kitchen was huge, and open to the living room. The large windows and a doorwall gave us great views of the dunes and Lake Michigan. We really enjoyed the spectacular sunsets on the deck. A few yards away down from the cottage lake front takes you to an amazing private beach, where we had a great time swimming, and the kids had a blast with the big waves. The owners were very easy to work with, responding quickly to answer a couple of questions. We would definitely plan on staying here again!
WOW, the beach & views are amazing! We had a wonderful vacation. The layout of the home worked well for our family (ages 7-74) with 3 levels to stretch out. Main level w/ kitchen, 1/2 bath, living room, dining & deck “perfect for sunsets” over-looking beautiful dunes & beach. Lower level w/ 2 bedrooms, full bath, laundry & additional family room. Upper level master, bunk-room & full bath. LOVED everything except house could use new linens (sheets & towels) and back-up toiletries (soaps for bathrooms). Thank you for having us & we are excited to visit again next summer.

Thank you for the thoughtful feedback! We will take you up on the suggestion of better linens and plan to upgrade towels and sheets. We hope to host you again in the future!
Be well!
We stayed here for a long weekend in October 2019. We were in the area for a family wedding at Castle Farms. The location was perfect, the beach a bonus, despite the chilly fall weather. The kids loved walking on the beach finding crab claws and petosky stones! I wish the weather had allowed for a sunset, because I know it would have been amazing!
The house was the perfect size for us and our adult children and 3 small grandchildren. It had everything we needed and more! We had no problems at all!
We accidentally left an item behind and the owner is graciously mailing it to us! We hope to return for a summer stay!
We had a wonderful family vacation at the Dune Cottage to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The views were breathtaking and 2 weeks later I’m still missing the beautiful sunsets. We saw lots of wildlife, including two bald eagles who sat by the water for over an hour one morning. We enjoyed walking the quiet beach every day looking for fossils and found a lot of Petosky stones. We had plenty of room for 6 adults. The home is spacious and the kitchen was great. There is no central air conditioning but there is a fan in the ceiling upstairs that did a good job of cutting the humidity. We did take our own beach chairs since they didn’t have any. Check in was easy and the host was available and quickly responded to questions. Washer and dryer worked well. I would go back in a heart beat.
We fell in love w/ this cottage as soon as we turned into the wooded driveway. The house has 2 seperate living spaces (one on the upper level and one on the lower level) which is great if you have kids or a group of people (plenty of room to spread out). We loved the 3 fireplaces, kept us very warm. This cottage is so cozy and homey! The kitchen had everything you could need and more. Best advice is to wake up just before dawn, there is a lot of wildlife stirring around. The upper level lake side of the home is almost all windows and it's amazing! We didn't want to leave and ended up extending our stay. Fields was so helpful with our questions and awesome to allow us to extend our trip a few more days. We cannot wait to get back. I can only imagine how amazing it is in the warmer months.

Hi Darlene and Gary! We are so glad you enjoyed our cottage. Hurry back!
The home has beautiful views and access to Lake Michigan. Everything was clean and there is lots of space inside and out. We would definitely stay again! However, I will mention two things I wish I had paid attention to prior to our stay. I will start by saying both things are included in the listing so this is not a complaint, just clarification. First, although the home is on the water and you definitely have quick access down a dune path to the beach, be aware that the part of the beach directly down the path to the water is highly monitored by the neighbors and you are not allowed to sit or hang out there. We mistakenly thought the chairs at the end to the end of the path belonged to the rental property and we were quickly told we could not use the chairs and we had to leave and move to the far far left or to the right where the shore is very rocky. Not a huge problem for us but might be for families with small children who are looking for a beach day close to the property. Second, being from the south, I mistakenly assumed there would be A/C. When we arrived very late in the evening, the house was closed up and after opening all the windows, it took a few hours to cool down. My mistake but worth mentioning. Again, I'm not complaining, just clarifying. We only stayed 2 nights, but I would definitely stay again and longer!

About the host
Hosted by Anne Hornak
We have been vacationing in Charlevoix for 40 years and enjoy the area immensely. Whatever the season, it is truly an amazing place! We all enjoy the beaches, restaurants, shopping, boating, marinas, golfing, library, orchards, festivals, neighboring towns, etc. We're so fortunate to have found this property located precisely where we wanted it: on miles of sand where the sunsets are INCREDIBLE and a short drive from downtown (Bridge Street).
Why they chose this property
Charlevoix offers some many wonderful amenities. Downtown has cute shops, Dune Cottage offers a retreat space with privacy and miles of beach to walk, while being within 10 minutes of town. Enjoy quiet evenings at cottage with a beautiful sunset or head into town for an amazing time on Round Lake.
What makes this property unique
In the winter, we take advantage of skiing at Nubs Nob, Boyne Highlands/Mountain, and sledding/ice skating locally at Mt McSauba.
