Drop a fishing line in Lake Buchanan off the shore or sunbathe on the beach to bask in the slow pace of life here at Seahorse Cove. This spacious property sits right on one of Texas's best bass fishing lakes, also stocked with catfish and gar. Tie off your boat on-site in the cove or slide a rented kayak into the water from the sandy stretch of beach. If you're up for some cliff jumping, you can explore Inks Lake State Park about nine miles to the south. There are several nearby wineries and the Vanishing Texas River Cruise is definitely worth checking out. A convenience store and Buchanan General Store are nearby and Burnet is only 15 minutes away if you want to visit Fort Croghan Historic Museum, the Hill Country Motorheads Museum, or buy groceries.

Originally a Texas Ranger's bunkhouse, this beautiful 1930s home retains all its original vintage charm from a location atop a cove shaped like a horse’s head. Take in the calming lake views and gorgeous sunsets as you let your worries slip away. The full kitchen, along with the stone fireplace and large windows, gives you plenty of space to spread out, while the cozy cabin makes a perfect spot for kicking back after a long day in the sunshine. Connect to the free WiFi to post photos of your big catch, treat your friends to a BBQ using the gas grill, or step back outside to build a fire in the firepit. Depending on what time of the year you're here, you'll behold beautiful wildflowers, various trees, and other flora, along with deer, foxes, owls, American pelicans, and more.

End your days gazing at the spectacular night skies and relaxing in your own secluded oasis.

Rustic

Very rustic, comfortable bed, RV size shower, cozy fireplace room, lots of lamps to allow for preferred lighting. Various outdoor seating areas for sunset views. Family of deer visited often.

10 Year anniversary

Beautiful, cottage is what pictures betray, the lakefront view from cottage was incredible, wild life was apparent wish there was deer feed. Cookware spices abundant, but if you like cooking with non stick, bring your own. :), Bed was very comfortable, love the nice touch to restroom floor (add on). We are looking forward to return later in the fall to hopefully enjoy dock and or beach area. (only setback- a couple weeks of the terrible floods in the Texas Hill Co. the fishing dock and boat ramp- not sure if flood took that away. there was no beach access. the drive in the road leading to cottage was flooded, did not want to take a chance to go through that.) There was a empty cabin in the middle of the lake would love to know the story behind that. Not sure if that was part of flooding. A lot of debris around surrounding lake but not at Seahorse Cove. Not sure if the property next to it is a rental.

10 Year AnniversaryWonderful, beautiful, Pictures description very accurate. We went a couple weeks after the terrible Texas Hill Co. Flooding, the road leading to cottage was flooded, we did not want to chance the depth of it. went off road to reach Cabin, Not sure if the flooding washed out fishing dock and beach access. No bebree on shore line of property, the lake view was spot on gorgeous. There is a empty empty cabin in middle of lake would love to hear the story behind. The wild life was very apparent, only wish we would of brought Deer feed. Cooking - If you like non tack pans, bring your own, spices was provided, Bed was comfy, nice touch to bathroom add on floor. The only thing was ALOT of cob webs around all window and doors. There is 2 window around bed that I used the vacuumed that was provided at cabin. Such a beautiful view from cottage windows had a lot of bug smudges. My husband and I would Love to return to take advantage of beach and dock access. Strongly recommend this beauty.

Nice and Quiet

This is a nice quiet, comfortable place to stay for two or a a small family. The living room has a nice view but the lake is severely low. Need rain!

Secluded

Nice quiet location. House was hot when we arrived and we had issues getting the lock to open. We didn't feel you are given enough time to really enjoy. Check in was 4:00 and out by 10:00 am. Not enough time to enjoy coffee outside. Too expensive to stay 2 nights.

Secluded and quiet

We had a lovely time at the cabin. The kitchen has all the tools you need, including spices and cooking oils. Also, the coffee maker is a full size pot with a basket filter. Outdoor grill worked awesome and was very clean. We spent every morning and evening at beach and recommend some sort of shade for full enjoyment. My only recommendation to the property owners/managers is to have the windows cleaned. It’s too pretty a property to not see it all clearly. I do wish given the very large size of the bedroom that there was a bigger bed with a spring free mattress, but the bed there is fine. Overall, we would stay here again.

So much potential

In many ways Seahorse Cove cabin is lovely. The furnishings are well-considered, the bed very comfortable, and the setting restful and peaceful. There are important improvements that would make this the perfect stay, and the good news is they are all doable. The first is the instructions given for arrival, which said “gate code” and gave other physical descriptions of the entrance. What was confusing was that the gate that matched the description didn’t have a keypad (because “gate code”). As it turned out the code was for a padlock. If that had been included in the instructions, it would have saved us frustration (and driving up and down the country road making sure we didn’t have the address wrong). The other major problem was the strong sulfur smell. Other reviews mentioned it and the owner/management response was that a filter had been installed. While there was a Brita pitcher in the fridge, the smell comes from the hot water. So, every time we washed dishes (dishes had to be hand washed – no big deal except for the smell), washed hands, showered, the whole cabin smelled. I would think a filter on the hot water line could go a long way to solving this problem. There are other little things that would make for a better experience (a listing of local TV stations, clearing out more than one small drawer for guests’ clothes, an ash bucket for the fireplace), but the real problem was that the confusion over arrival and the smell really set the tone for the stay. This listing has a LOT of potential and I hope the owner/management will consider these improvements.

Absolutely beautiful spot on the lake. Cute little stay for 2. The only complaint I have is the code given via email to enter the house was not correct. We had to call for a proper one. As well as, their were spider webs all throughout the house and sticky pest traps throughout the place. One had a dead mouse stuck to it, which stunk behind the tv stand. I understand the need for pest control but theses should be more discrete and changed before guest arrive.

Great weekend getaway

Seahorse Cove was a relaxing place to stay on our weekend. Unlike hotels, there was no one banging around next-door or above you. There were great views of the lake. Although the lake is very low, there was a big field of bloop on it where the water should’ve been, and that was just as pretty. I love the floor in the bathroom! The kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and such. We just had to bring our own groceries. The wind was crazy all weekend, but that has nothing to do with the property. We would’ve loved to sit outside by the fire ring, but due to the wind and the burn ban, that was not possible. This would be a great summer vacation by the lake. There are several places to go and do things and places to eat in Burnet and Llano. Communication was quick and easy with the property owner. We saw deer each day. Would definitely go back..

Quick weekend get away

We loved everything about the cabin and property! It was fully furnished with all we needed. The bed was very comfortable and there was plenty of space in the cabin and outside the cabin. The best part was the waterfront lake access! Amazing sunsets and wild life views! Also very quiet and secluded. Perfect couples or families! We will be back again!

Nice getaway.

The Seahorse Cove cabin was all I anticipated and more. I booked this home for a weekend trip while visiting the cavern at Longhorn Cavern State Park. I also rented Kayaks from Vanishing Sunset Cruises. I had a great experience with both companies.

A breath of fresh air

My husband and I wanted a mini getaway and so we went to Burnet to this hideaway that took me back to country living, the place was very homey clean and the bed super comfortable. My husband loved the lake views. As we sat outside there was nice breezes and no humidity ...we fished and enjoyed spending interrupted time is this beautiful home and space. We will be returning

This place was awsome!

We had the most relaxing and wonderful getaway. The rustic charm was just what we needed. we saw a beautiful sunset, a deer and a fox. It was quiet and peaceful. It did have cobwebs behind curtains and doors and in the windows but, even that just endeared us more to the rustic charm. Can’t wait to go again! I highly recommend it!

Peace and quiet on Lake Buchanan

We went to Burnet, the self proclaimed Bluebonnet Capital, to to see the flowers. 2024 is a banner year! Kitchen was well stocked with dishes, glasses and cutlery. Knives were sharp enough. There were pots and pans. This was meaningful because it would be a hike to go to town for meals. We cooked dinner and breakfast 2 times each. I did have to rewash glasses. Because there is no dishwasher, you are at the mercy of the previous occupants' skills. Bed was quite comfortable. We appreciated having Direct TV. It is very quiet and we enjoyed two nice sunsets. It would be ideal if the lake was fuller but a drought is in place across the area. Enjoyed watching the deer in the yard in the early morning.
