End the day back in the Spa room, repeat the morning ritual before bed, (and don't forget to brush your teeth), and get a good night’s sleep, because the big decision in the morning is "do we go exploring" or hang out at the pool and spa room again today?"' Decisions, decisions, decisions!
Walk the five fenced in acres of the property. The kitchen is fully stocked and ready to serve eight! Just bring your food, spices and recipes! With the open kitchen the chefs can converse and see all in both Dining room and Living room
The Oasis in the Woods sits within an hour of both quaint villages on the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico – less than three hours ROUND TRIP to either coast! One of the few locations in the entire United States that can boast this! WHERE ELSE CAN YOU BE ON EITHER THE GULF OF MEXICO AND ATLANTIC OCEAN BEACHES IN LESS THEN 90 MINUTES! Take that day trip to that quaint fishing village on the Gulf of Mexico after working out and relaxing in the Spa Room and still be back in plenty of time to work out or relax in the sauna, swim-spa or outside pool; and STILL be in bed by 9 PM! After all, tomorrow you will be doing the SAME routine to visit the Atlantic Ocean instead.!
The HARDEST decision you will probably make is " DO i want to go out site seeing? the Gulf of Mexico? the Atlantic Ocean? both less than 90 minutes away!
Do I want to travel less than 20 minutes for 3 rivers for kayaking and inner tubing?, the best white-water rapids in FL? the best under water cave diving in the entire United States? Over 6 beautiful different parks with Natural Springs?
Do I want to go to a wild game rescue park 10 minutes away? horseback riding around the springs? or visit a place that houses Falcons?
Maybe just go Antiquing in Rural America?
OR MAYBE, JUST MAYBE... we should stay home at our PRIVATE CABIN/SPA and just CHILL?!
DECISIONS, DECISIONS, DECISIONS!!!
Your only regret will be, "WHY DIDN'T WE BOOK THIS FOR LONGER?!"

This place has a great cabin vibe! Fireplace, swim spa, pool, and sauna—plenty to enjoy. The swim spa water was super clean. Like most saunas, it takes about 45 minutes to heat up, so a little planning is needed. The fireplace was clean and ready to go, with kindling provided. The kitchen was well stocked with quality cookware—not the peeling Teflon you often find in rentals. The oven is a convection oven, and we had fun making some great “air-fried” food before we even discovered there was an actual air fryer under the sink. The grill fired right up with no issues and was clean, in good working order, and fully stocked with propane. Our favorite spot was the back porch. There were several lawn chairs to relax by the pool, and it felt extremely private. Tan-colored tarps cover the few spots visible from the road, which made a big difference.Eric was attentive without being overbearing. We really enjoyed the cozy cabin atmosphere—especially the fireplace and swim spa during 32-degree weather.
If you are looking for a quiet and direct contact with nature, this is the perfect place! My family and I loved it!
Thanks Eric for sharing this paradise!
My family of 5 stayed here for a long weekend. Had tons of fun at the various springs that are closely located and whenever we weren’t out or during the rain the cabin offered plenty of fun and comfort for things to do. For an added bonus there is a butcher shop close by with some amazing east that complimented our stay.
We were looking for a quite, not so fancy place in the country to relax and found it with this rustic log cabin. Even though we never saw the sun and it rained most of the time we would sit on the large front or back porch reading a book and listening to the rain on the tin roof or we sat in the large swim spa and enjoyed the jets. A couple of times we were able to use the pool (very clean) but without the sun the water was still cold.
We had an amazing time! There are so many amenities to enjoy at this property and it is close to some great natural wonders. We drove to the gulf to take in a sunset one evening and spent a day kayaking in the Santa Fe River and cooling off in Ginnie Springs. The rest of the time we hung out at the property and enjoyed the seclusion.

Thank you Branden! Glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to you staying again!
This rental was a perfect couples getaway! Everything in the description is exactly as it was presented by Eric. He is a very nice and attentive host, provided us a small tour of the location with a few tips. Location is great too, near a lot of nature activities, or you can just have a blast staying at the cabin all day. Highly recommend! Thanks Eric!!
Eric is such a great host and provides all instructions about the home. Great home for just about anyone young or old. Great butcher shop just down the road with great meat selection. If your looking for peace and a relaxing atmosphere this is the place.

Thanks so much. I can’t tell you what a pleasure it was to meet you both. Please let me know when you are around and I would love to throw some steaks on the barbecue and just hang out and chat some more.
Overall we enjoyed our stay. Appreciated the earlier check in time. It was very difficult to lock the door and the water issue in the bathroom - having to turn on water in sink to get water in shower became frustrating. With a little work could be a great get away.

Both complaints are not accurate .
Sometimes I just get confused . You show somebody something, explain it to them, have them tell you they understand it, and then they complain about it afterwards as if it is something new and problematic!
I have had a policy of meeting all my guests upon arrival and giving them a quick tour of the cabin, Showing each guest how to use and adjust the hot tub ,the sauna ,how the electric thermostat works, how to adjust the vents for the air conditioning heating, how to use the electric stove and dishwasher, and to explain the few idiosyncrasies of the cabin . I have done this with every guest for 4 years, Julia was no different.
There are 2 particular idiosyncrasies that have existed since when I bought the house. Want to guess what TWO they are?
When Julia arrived, I walked her through the cabin and explained everything as I always do . when we got to the bathroom I explained to her .as I have for every other guest for the last four years, that in order to get hot water quickly in the shower, you must turn on hot water concurrently in the sink of the bathroom let it run for 3 to 4 minutes , both of them AT THE SAME TIME, and the water will be hot in the shower you. Then turn off the water in the sink and enjoy a hot shower with enough hot water to keep you going forever. This is a fluke in the house and it’s been that way for 10 years .. It is only a problem if you do not listen to what I’m saying when I’m showing it to you , and then try to do otherwise !!!! if a 2-4 minute wait for hot water , while you are getting ready to get into the shower by running the water in the sink is a problem , probably you should not be booking anything outside of your home! The problem here is not that it took a long time to get the hot water running. The problem is she did not follow directions!!!! if 2 to 3 minutes is too long to wait for you to get hot water in the shower, please do not book my cabin!
As far as the locks on the doors go they are unusual. You need to pull the handle up and turn the lock to the right to lock it , and pull the handle up and turn a lock to the left to unlock it. If you do not pull the handle up the door will not lock nor unlock lock. To lock the door from the outside you have to hold the handle horizontal and turn the key, then when it stops turning, lift the handle up till it locks fully. Again some thing I showed and explained to Julia, and some thing she obviously did not pay attention to .so for everything else including an early checkin , adding an additional person at the last minute, and loving the cabin, she only gave it 3 stars! Both “issues “ that she stated have existed since I’ve owned the cabin 11 years ago, BUT neither is an “issue “, they are only idiosyncrasies if you understand them, and they ONLY become an issue when you don’t pay attention to what I am saying When I give the tour of the cabin , or not reading the brochure that’s on the living room table , and then complain about “the issue” because of lack of retention, or just to complain, not because there ever was a problem !
If you read all the reviews ,you will not see these “issues “ as problems that people have stated . in fact usually most guests thank me for thoroughly explaining everything when they get here before I leave. I want my guests to have the best and most enjoyable stay they can possibly have at my cabin. I want you to know where everything is, how everything works, and what your options are to change things there that you would like while you were there to make it more convenient for your state.
However it is out of my “job classification “ to make a guest listen, remember, or refer to the written info on the coffee table. So yea, I am very disappointed in Julia’s review, but if you are reading this now , you know all about the idiosyncrasies , so you see, every cloud does have a silver lining!
Took my family to the area to visit the springs. The house was spacious and homey. Minor maintenance issues that didn’t bother or affect our stay.
The spa was spectacular and we enjoyed it highly on the unusually cool nights for Florida.
Eric was a pleasure to communicate with and Paul was attentive to all our needs.

Peaceful get away in a great location!
Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay. The spa wasn't warm enough to get in the first couple of days, but Eric was kind enough to let us stay an extra night to make up for it. The area had a few hidden gems that we just happened upon, such as the Mystic Jungle, which is an exotic wild animal sanctuary. We also met a VERY kind couple who took us horseback riding along a beautiful spring fed river. Also the area is one of the top 10 place in the US for it's natural springs with crystal clear water that you can kayak, paddle board, or tube down.

I am a bit surprised with a 3 star rating especially as trish seemed to throughly enjoy her stay. The issue of the swim spa was something she was aware of BEFORE she booked, as she begged for a same day reservation , and since I had no reservations prior to hers, I had the spa emptied, cleaned and refilled. Before she bookeked the reservation, I told her it would take at least 24-48 hours for the spa to reach 98* and if she was ok with that then the room could be rented. She agreed and the spa took about 48 hours leaving her one day of use. Because she was “deploying” oversees and this was her last time with her boyfriend prior to deployment, and since I had no one coming into the room for two more days, I offered her a complimentary extra night, which she graciously accepted. She told my partner how wonderful the place was, and how much she enjoyed her stay, AND SAID EVERYTHING WAS GREAT.
I do not understand a three star rating ( I have only received FIVE stairs), and assume that this is simply because she does not understand how the rating scale works.
Regardless, I am glad she enjoyed her stay and wish her safety on her deployment .

My family and dog had a fantastic time at this cabin. It was quiet and so relaxing, exactly what my family needed with our normally hectic schedules. The spa room with swim spa was great! Eric provided everything we could possibly need. Just down the road is a dollar general if you forgot your toothbrush! Everyone in the area is so nice and is located close to so many beautiful springs if you even feel the need to leave! My husband and I loved watching the kids try to catch frogs and enjoy nature. Eric was so helpful and made sure we knew how to work everything and was an all around great host. We hope to come back in the future!

Beautiful cabin in a serine environment. Amazing host, clean, and the pools were awesome!
I would really recommend staying in Eric’s beautiful log cabin in the woods. We had such a great stay. He opened his home to us and gave us full access to the place which was well stocked, clean and beautiful. The room had a nice comfortable bed and nicely decorated. Kitchen and bath were also very nice, clean and had plenty of essentials if you wanted to make a meal. The jacuzzi was Amazing! We had such a good time relaxing in the huge indoor swim in place heated pool as well as the outdoor one. Very close to many of the beautiful natural springs and hiking the area is known for.
I couldn’t recommend this cabin and Eric enough, I wouldn’t hesitate a second to rent another room or entire place from Eric again. Truly a wonderful experience.

I am glad you enjoyed you stay as it was truly a pleasure having your family and friends as my guests. I hope to see all of you again, and please use me as a reference if ever needed.
This vacation cabin was absolutely great. It is especially perfect for couples. The peace and quite from the cabin being secluded is great. There is no one to bother you at all. The hot tub was amazing. We spent hours just sitting in the hot tub watching movies. The pool area is very nice and very clean. All rooms and the whole house has a very clean and relaxing feeling. We could go to jacksonville in just over an hour. Eric is great at communicating and is very polite. He will fix any issues you have and otherwise will leave you alone. Thanks alot eric!!
We had an amazing time at Eric’s cabin in the woods. My husband wanted a quiet relaxing place to spend his 40th birthday and this cabin was the perfect spot! Eric was super helpful and responsive to any question or concern. He walked us around the property and gave us tips on how to have a wonderful stay and then wished us a nice weekend and headed out. We loved the sauna and hot tub. It was so nice to be able to unplug from reality for a couple days. We would absolutely return for another amazing stay! Thank you for everything and helping to make my husbands birthday everything he wanted.
My 2 friends, wife and I decided to get away for the weekend and found Eric’s cabin. It is a beautiful property out in the country with tons of privacy. To clarify some other reviews I read. Eric and his wife DO NOT STAY on the property with you. They meet you when you arrive, give you a quick tour. (This property is beautiful and obviously expensive so there are some things he needs to explain in person to make sure you don’t harm his property!)
After a quick tour it is all yours! We enjoyed the jacuzzi! The beds were extremely comfortable! We loved everything about this place, Eric and his wife are very nice people and seem extremely open minded to people who want to escape their reality! We will absolutely be back!

We had a great stay, very secluded and private place, close to a lot of state parks. Loved it!
First of all, we booked this place for our honeymoon. My wife and I were looking for something cute, in the woods, private, with access to lots of nature, and with a hot tub! This place met all of our needs!
The communication with Eric was great from the very start, he helped accommodate a few requests and answered all of my questions prior to booking.
When we arrived, we met with Paul who let us in, gave us a key and showed us around the place and answered all of our questions. Paul was very friendly and very helpful. He even went back to his house (next door) and brought us over some DVDs, his personal expreso machine and then coffee that goes with it and he let us borrow all of that for the duration of our stay.
The hot tub was AMAZING! The location was great and we got to see 4 different starte parks and natural springs while we were there.
We ended up having the entire cabin to ourselves, even though we only booked one room; thanks to Eric choosing to block off the remaining rooms so that we can have the entire cabin for us as a wedding gift! How nice of him!
We were able to cook meals at home since my wife has a very strict diet. Eric’s kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed.
The only reason why this review doesn’t get 5 stars is due to the overall cleanliness of the place not fully meeting our expectations. But other than that, We ABSOLUTELY loved the place and had a phenomenal few days of honeymoon that we will forever remember and cherish.
Thank you Eric for making it possible!
Hope your time in Africa with your fiancé is going fantastic!
Cheers,
David & Jaci Diez-Perez

I am amazed by your complaints! I am curious to what restrictions are being referred to here, as all is stated on the VRBO page PRIOR to booking!
Yes, it is true that you can’t use certain switches, and for those reading this now, please keep in mind the absurdity of this complaint. There are TWO sets of light switches that are being referred to. The first is in the swim spa, where the switch for the overhead fans are clearly marked DO NOT USE! Why? Because there is a 900 sq ft wood room with a humongous swim spa, and the room must have the air continually moving for the AC and dehumidifier to work properly to keep the room mold free (please take ONE star off for that!)
The SECOND switch that is being criticized is the switch for the outdoor back porch, that is a triple switch with a switch in Bedroom# 2 and a switch in the laundry room. If THE switch in the Bedroom is switched on, the switch in the Laundry room will not turn on the back porch lights! Since this is the switch that 90% of people use when going out to the back porch and pool, this is for the guests convenience, (Duh! Please take another star off for that!)
The ENTIRE Cabin IS my home! I live in ALL of it when I am not booking it out! Perhaps Jeff should READ the description instead of maybe just looking at the pictures I clearly state that! !That is what makes this cabin so special because it IS a HOME and not a sterile rental property! That is why MOST people love it. I am not sure if Jeff’s grammar is just poor, or he is intentionally trying to misrepresent the property, BUT WHEN SOME ONE RENTS THE CABIN THEY GET THE ENTIRE CABIN - WITHOUT “ part of house is someone living in it” I do have a suite upstairs that is my personal space that is my personal bedroom, office, and bathroom, but this suite is locked off and VACATED when a guest rents the property, and is NOT included in the rental description! In fact, if I hadn’t mentioned to him that I have the suite upstairs, he would have never known!
It is a amazing that he states, “, to(o) sic many things not working”, and does NOT mention what they are! There IS a simple reason that he doesn’t; because it is NOT TRUE!
And lastly ,“ couch poorly repaired and broken while there”. This is partially true, however there is a “back story”! Thirty minutes before Jeff arrived as I was inspecting the Cabin, I noticed that the left front leg of the larger couch in the living room not sitting properly. When Jeff arrived it was ME who notified him of this and gave him THREE OPTIONS : 1. I had another couch on its way over that would arrive within an hour, 2) if he did not want that intrusion I would move the extra futon from Bedroom# 2 to the Living Room to replace the couch, or 3) Not to use the couch and I would move it under the stairs. Jeff said “ Not to worry, that he wouldn’t use it, and not too bother with option one or two!" HE THEN SAT ON THE DAMN COUCH AND BROKE IT COMPLETELY AND COMPLAINED! (Take away a third star please).
Jeff then left the kitchen filthy with 3 days of dirty dishes in the sink, and pots with 3 days of cooked on filth on the stove, wet towels on the bed, and the garbage not put in the proper cans.
But.. “ . Porch's were very nice”!!!!
Eric is wonderful. The house is beautiful, exactly as described. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Eric was very detailed in showing us how to access and utilize everything in the house. The location is perfect for kayaking the springs/river. The snorkeling/diving areas are so exciting and beautiful. The 406 restaurant within a 15 minute drive is outstanding! This stay was by far better than our Costa Rica rental. It is exactly as pictured. We were surprised to see there was a gym with a sauna, we didn’t notice in the description we were so excited about the swim spa which is to die for. We didn’t want to leave. We will definitely be back! Thank you Eric!

Oasis in the Woods is a truly fantastic place to relax. It is situated on beautiful wooded property with complete privacy. The house is log cabin construction with spacious rooms and modern facilities. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, which is a swim spa type tub, along with a variety of exercise equipment. Since we are social nudist we really appreciate the privacy. Definitely will be back.

I have worked in the corporate world in developing and marketing seafood, and am an expert in creating "value added" products from commodities. I have been a homeless advocate, a writer, an instigator, and a lover of justice and peace. I currently want to use all of my skills to provide you with he best guest experience when you visit my home.
Why they chose this property
The log cabin chalet has 18 ft high ceilings in the living room and spa room, and gives you a sense of openness not often found in many places. The bedroom looks out on woods and fields, and one does not have to look hard to see bunnies, coyotes, and deer, wandering by. The spa room was designed to create a space of relaxation and peace. An early morning meditation in the spa room, (meditation cushions and mats are available), a walk on the treadmill, upper body multi-machine and pull up machine30-50 "laps" in the endless pool, sit in the sauna and purge your body of toxins as you read a book from my library, and then a jump in the cool water of the outside pool, is a wonderful way to start any day. End the day back in the Spa room, repeat the morning ritual before bed, (and don't forget to brush your teeth), and get a good night’s sleep, because the big decision in the morning is "do we go exploring" or hang out at the pool and spa room again today?"'
Decisions, decisions, decisions! Walk the five fenced in acres of the property. Set up you easel under one of the many 100 year old trees and paint your day away, or set up your table and set up your typewriter or laptop(wireless available through much of the property), and work on your novel, memoirs, or write that love letter that is so long overdue. Need quiet and solitude to write that business plan, get to work alone, or book all three rooms for your collaboration with your compatriots. And at night, light a fire in the outdoor fire pit, and make smores!
