About this property

Georgian Bay Cottage - Bone Island - Honey Harbour/Cognashene

This is our family cottage on Bone Island in Georgian Bay. It is water access only. Interested renters will require their own boat or be subject to water taxi access.

The original cottage was built in 1939. It is located on a point with spectacular views in 3 cardinal directions including sunsets. The property is 10+ acres and there is nearly 800ft of frontage on Georgian Bay (Meta Bay).

Having been built before many cottages in the area, it sits on one of the prime locations in the area. There is a beach on the property, quite unique for the typical topography of Georgian Bay.

This cottage property is a compound or camp of sorts. With a bunkie, boathouse and beachhouse, there are 3 separate living quarters.. It would be well suited to a large family (grandparents, adult children and grandchildren). It would also be suitable for a couple of families to rent together. Alternatively, if rented by a small family it would be ideal for hosting overnight guests.

As is typical of cottages of this era, it is a 3 season cottage which maintains its original rustic charm.

Plenty of toys including Paddle boat, Canoe, SUP, kids kayaks, etc... available for use.

Location is close to McRae Lake, Musquash River, Freddy Channel and other local Scenic day trips.

About the Buildings....
Main Cottage: Built in two stages, 1939 and 1945 - this building is divided in two, separated by a screened-in “breezeway” were guests enjoy a spectacular sunsets while dining in the outdoors without mosquitoes or flies. The original building is where the kitchen and sleeping quarters are. The 1945 addition is a living/sitting room with a large fireplace.

Bunkie: This building was built approximately 25 years ago. It houses a sink, toilet, 2 sets of bunk beds. There is a fridge and supplies for breakfast. Ideal for kids.

Beachouse: This building was built about 20 years ago. It sits right on the beach. It houses a double bed, shower, toilet, sink and a sauna.

Boathouse: This is a dry boathouse. It houses a waterfront bar. Also storage for water/beach toys.

Lots of docking for guests, overnight boaters, etc... (Brand new 50ft dock 2017)

Location can’t be beat.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Grieves cottage. Location is amazing with lots to explore near and far from the property. Cottage itself is quite rustic but has its charms.

We Absolutely Loved It!
This cottage experience was outstanding! The main cottage, beach house and bunkie had SO MUCH character. We loved the decor. There were so many activities for all the kids (7-15 yrs) and a great combo of relaxation and activities for the adults. There is nothing like reading that book you have been waiting to get through, all while lilstening to the lapping of the water, and the call of the loon in the distance. Owners Heather and Geoff went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Amenities were excellent! We absolutely loved this cottage experience and are thankful to have these wonderful memories to last a lifetime!!
