About this property
Charming 1930’s Farmhouse located between Boone & West Jefferson, NC!
“Worth's Place" is located in the breathtaking Appalachian Mountains of Ashe County, North Carolina. This charming 1930's farmhouse sits in the locale of a "retired" 180+ acre dairy farm and is roughly 15-20 minutes away from Boone/Jefferson and 25 minutes from Blowing Rock. If you enjoy mountain scenery, hiking trails, or any outdoor activities, Ashe County is the place to visit!
Special Considerations: The farmhouse only has ONE bathroom and it is located INSIDE bedroom #1. We also only have ONE small television and it’s located in the living room! :)
Mostly private, country setting. This is the perfect location to catch up on some much needed R&R! Listen closely and you’ll hear the cows mooing, roosters crowing and the soothing sounds of the creek drifting by while relaxing on the hammock outdoors. You may even get serenaded with the sweet songs of the many whip-poor-wills.
During the Summer, you’ll most likely see hay cutting, raking and baling in full swing. In early Fall, you’ll be amazed by all the stunning foliage—late October is typically peak leaf season! If you prefer to visit during the Winter months, you may find yourself gazing at a blanket of freshly fallen snow. Pick your season and come enjoy all that Ashe County, NC has to offer!
The Blue Ridge Parkway is located only 5-10 minutes away from the farmhouse and offers incredible mountain views! It's also home to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the area, Cascade Falls ("The Cascades"). This 1.2 mile long hiking trail is a must see!
Our neighboring counties, Watauga and Avery, have a few attractions worth mentioning. Tweetsie Railroad is open April-October and is a local favorite. Mystery Hill and Grandfather Mountain are open year round! If you plan to visit during the Winter months, check out our ski slopes- Appalachian, Sugar, and Beech Mountian Ski Resorts!

Everything about the house, the property and the time spent away was incredible. The hosts were very responsive and helpful. We loved being out in the country but yet close enough to get to town. My wife and I have already agreed that we will be back around the same time next year.
This is a beautiful and nostalgic property with cute cows to watch! The house itself was clean and well taken care of and was everything we needed. We would definitely consider coming back!
Great place to stay! Perfect location with amazing view. House was perfect, super clean, cool and overall perfect.I highly recommend as place and rental experience was great. I give it *6 stars!!!!
Perfect cozy farm house for our family Christmas tree trip. We started this tradition here in this house in 2019 and were so thrilled to be back in the same location 6 years later. Enjoyed the peaceful surroundings, watching cows graze and making Christmas cookies in the kitchen. A great start to our holiday season!
My best friend and I have been coming up to Fleetwood for over 30 years for a fall trip. My mother’s home was swept away in Helene and we found this jewel of a home to visit this year. I could not have felt more at home. The house was immaculate and very well preserved. We hope to come back again.
Farm house was perfect getaway place to disconnect and enjoy the beauty of NC mountains. Home was clean, hosts were responsive and had necessities for morning coffee. Kitchen was stocked with adequate dishes and cooking supplies. Reminded us of out grandparents house.
This place was a dream! Very comfortable home, deluxe nature, peaceful, quiet and overall just what we needed for holiday week. The kitchen had all we needed to make a holiday meal. Beds are very comfortable. Home is clean, warm and cozy. Great lane for walks. Lots of deer, birds (including wild turkeys), cows. Absolutely plan to return. Host was in touch to ensure we were comfortable. A great stay. You will probably com2 back again and again!
This is a great place to relax and enjoy nature. It’s also very close to Appalachian State University. We stayed and went to a football game at the college then came back to relax. Very clean and well equipped with everything you need. Laura the host was very accommodating too. We will be back. I highly recommend this lovely Farmhouse.
We stayed two nights during our family road trip up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Great private location with beautiful scenery. It was a comfortable and welcoming experience for our family. We would definitely return if we ever find ourselves back in the area.
We loved staying at the farmhouse. Very clean and quiet.

About the host
Hosted by Laura and Allen McNeill
Hey y’all! I’m Laura and that handsome gentleman is my husband, Allen. We are high school sweethearts and we have four children, three girls and one boy, ages 3-10. Allen works for the local phone company during the day and tends to the farm of the evenings and on the weekends. He’s an avid hunter and enjoys all things outdoors. I am a dental hygienist and have been blessed with an amazing career in public health. I enjoy shopping for antiques, reading, and restoring vintage patio furniture.
Why they chose this property
Our family was born and raised in the High Country, specifically Ashe and Watauga Counties. The farmhouse was built in 1932 and this property has been passed down through several generations. The mountains of North Carolina will always be our home. We are so grateful for a safe, family-oriented, and friendly hometown! There is no place we'd rather be!
