Custom Barndominium Perfect For Romantic Getaways, Lake or Family Vacations

This custom barndominium is perfect for romantic getaways, out of town relatives This beautiful home is back on the rental market after a full remodel. It sits at the corner of Highway 36 and FM 976, and is approximately 25 miles from College Station, 10 miles from Lake Somerville, and 35 miles from Round Top. The home has a master bedroom and private master bathroom as well as a living room with a twin daybed and twin trundle with access to the 2nd full bath. It has a full kitchen, and dining area. The bedroom has a comfortable queen size bed, a Roku TV with a spacious closet. The living room features a Roku TV.

There is plenty of parking if you want to bring your boat for a day of fishing or water sports at Lake Somerville.

The owner has a workshop behind the building, but it is not used when guests are staying.

No smoking inside home

NOTE: A $50 pet fee will be charged to guests who would like to bring their pet. Please mention when reserving our home if you plan on bringing your pet!

Quiet Time is 10:00 PM due to shared amenities and other Guest Units on the property.

We also have two tiny houses that are located near the small barndominium which can be found at Vrbo/1514664 and Vrbo/1831074

This is a great little getaway place with beautiful trees and surroundings. There is a lack of towels and no bath mat, so it would be good to bring your own!

My family stayed here for my son’s high school fishing tournament on Somerville. My wife and daughter took time to go to the Round Top antique fair. This place was perfect for these activities even had room to park the boat.

Really nice country property

We stayed here for the TAMU/Alabama football game. Super clean house in a country setting. Perfect for visiting TAMU is you want to get away form the traffic and crowds. Also very close to Lake Summerville.

We stayed during our few day trip to shop around round top and it was a great place to come back and relax. Pros: clean and spacious, very pretty property. Cons: like others said, lack of towels, and everyday kitchen essentials (oils, foil, etc.). Overall would recommend

Nice getaway place!

Overall, really enjoyed the place. Really close to Brenham; which we thoroughly enjoyed their downtown restaurants and shops. A few suggestions: The place needs more towels and bed covers/throws. Also note that there's no toaster and bring extra trash bags.

Nice place

I was not sure that the pictures of the home and property would match the place in person, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was very clean and comfortable. We were there in August so we did not spend much time outside there, but they have it set up where you could enjoy a nice cool evening outside.

Great property and house

We enjoyed our stay at Desert Hills barndominium and will keep it in our list of places to stay when going to sports ball in College Station. A few observations for future renters is that the towels are limited to 4 so bring your own if you need more. There are no extra bed linens or blankets, I would suggest bringing a throw or two. There were plenty of kitchen amenities for cooking, etc. the refrigerator is very nice. Both bathrooms are very nice, however, there was no vinyl liner in the back showers which was odd. Both the queen bed and trundle were comfortable. The lights are really bright in the LR so a lamp would be nice. All in all a great place.

Lovely but had issues

This was a lovely little barn cabin but we had issues check in was at 4 and we got there around 5 and it still was not clean. It said two bedrooms but only had one the second bedroom was a trundle bed in the living room. The owner did resolve this on the VBRO app and did say we could have a full refund but it was during a local event and there was no way to find another place to stay. There was a remote missing from the bedroom so we couldn’t watch tv in the bedroom for three days until they purchased a new one. The grounds needed sweeping outside bugs and leaves and bird poop on a chair. And the grass was tall. It looks like the owner doesn’t take the time to inspect the grounds or doesn’t care. If this were my place to rent I would make sure every little detail was in place.

Property was decorated nicely. We really appreciate that we could bring our 2 small dogs. Some negatives are no toaster, no kitchen towels and not enough wash cloths hand towels and bath towels. The property is ok to stay 1 night but with no washer and dryer on premises I would not recommend any longer then that.

Perfect location for a weekend getaway/local event.

We were very impressed from the moment we arrived at the property. Because of a late start we did not arrive until after 9pm and was greeted with a lit up property of outdoors lights strung up amongst the trees and around the buildings. There was a small mix-up on the code however Leon was quick to remediate the problem and get us into the house. We also ran into an issue with sheets and Leon and his wife were also quick to resolve the issue and go above and beyond to make sure that our stay was relaxing and stress free. After a long day at our event we were excited to get back to the property and relax. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this property and these owners for anyone looking for a great place to stay and owners who care about their guests. Thanks for a great weekend.

Absolutely relaxing

Such a quaint place to stay. We made friends with the occupants in the tin houses. Overall a really awesome place. It is right on the corner of two major SH but you couldn’t tell. I stayed in the barndominium and it was beautiful. Got a lot of great ideas for build and decorating for my new home. Will definitely be staying again. May rent out the whole park for a great get together with friends or family. Thanks Leon for the hospitality. See you again for sure.

Such a cute and quaint farm house. Love the decor and has everything you need for a quick and easy getaway. The owner is also very nice and responds quickly. My only negative feedback would be that if you are used to sleeping in a king, the bed situation isn’t optimal.

Fun place in a rural location

We had a wonderful week staying at the barndominium - we particularly enjoyed the immaculately clean hot tub and the outdoor fire pit. The accommodations were comfortable as advertised. The bedroom is tucked at the back and is thankfully nice and quiet for sleeping. Overall we had very nice experience - a unique place to visit!
